Soemtimes I obsess about looking good and I want to lose weight so my abs will show, but when I try to cut I get weaker.

I get like that sometimes myself. Im pretty cut up and look better than the average Joe. The only place I seem to have trouble with is my stomach. I have that pot belly syndrome. I occasionally get on these kicks where I want to lose the pot but then I reevaluate the situation and decide that I would rather be really strong.

My stomach isnt small, just moved to a 34 in the early summer and might jump up into 36 to allow leg room. But i figure as long as your close to a 20inch difference between chest and stomach you'll be fine. I mean who cares if a dude has a 30 inch waist and has ripped abs if his weak little chest is 42 or so. Get my point?

We'll since Jay and them converted me over from bodybuilding to powerlifting I have a natural tendency to pay attention to my physique. But I am training for a PL meet so right now thats my prime concern in June some people are asking me to do a BB show so I will worry about that after the meet.

the general consensus is NO. They want the poundages, not the bod. But dont tell guys like Glen Chabot, Arnold Coleman and George Halbert. :)

A total powerlifter by definition should not even care to look in a mirror, but in most cases guys get a little concerned with appearance....I don't care if I have abs and I don't even measure my waist, as long as my chest and shoulders are a hell of a lot bigger than my belly I don't care, I have no intention of shaving my body and standing on a stage in my underwear.......As long as I don't look like a fat piece of shit I am perfectly happy.....The earlier post was right on the money...most guys with a 29" waist and a detailed midsection are the same guys who can't bench 185 on a smith machine without help from their spotter....I would much rather be have a powerful and explosive body than can perform athletically than have a few 14 year girls drool over my abs.

i like 14 year old girls

I'm just trying to find a balance between strength and looking alright. I've got my bodyfat down somewhere between 13-17%. I just thought I might go for the washboards.
