Maybe it's because I'm a little tired, but I don't fully understand what you are saying. Could you explain in idiot terms for me por favor? What do you do with the bands?
 
You can loop the bands under your feet, through your loose belt and back through the other foot...and then deadlift. You MUST be explosive and it really works the lockout (when the band gives the most tension).

When we do the modified glute/calf/ham raise, we put a bench in the power rack sideways. We then suspend a green band from the top of the power rack towards the side where your head will be. Then I loop another green band in the first one. Then do like Hann said. Place your feet under the pin with your knees on the bench. The green band should be hanging in front of your face. You can grab it high or low depending on how much help you want at the bottom. Now just lower your torso down keeping your back and legs straight. The bands give you a little tension to come back up. You can work up to unassisted reps.
 
Cubanito, in answer to your orignal question, the amount the quads are used in the deadlift depends on how low your hips are at the start of the pull. My son, who is your age, pulls conventional, and keeps his hips very low. He uses front squats as an assistance exercise, but then he also uses his quads far more when squatting than either one of his parents, as we both squat with a very wide stance. He probably does this just to piss us off. If you are concerned about what weight to use, or where you stand, a decent front squat should be at least 80% of your raw 1rm squat.

I will sometimes do them from a box as a max effort lift, but since I started out as an OL'er, I generally have quad strength to spare.
