MY SMILE IS CRAMPING UP HERE FOLKS!!!!

Thanks for all of your kind words. This is exciting to me.

Tatyana~ here are my goals:
PHYSICAL My goal is to be a size 6. Have a beautiful physique. By doing this I'll have an athletic, healthy appearance. Basically to look good like "Wow, that chick works out" and to be able look good nekkid, lol.

OTHER To help other formerly obese people reach their goals and not go back to that horrible place. So many of the ppl at my gastric bypass support group do not belive in working out and if they do go to the gym never break a sweat.

Example for my kids.

For personal enrichment and the challenge of it.

3/16/08 Sunday

Just got back home from the gym. Wow, there was a totally different crowd there than usual. I'm still soaked and a little shakey but had to log on and update.

I did a quick warm up on the bike to work up a light sweat. Then I jumped off there and set up my step and dumbells. I was actually running around and didn't want to cool down while setting it up. Anyway, I did:

3 sets of 20 of each with about 20 seconds and water inbetween:
~reverse lunges off the step (3 risers) holding 10# dumbells in each hand
~lying hip thrusts with feet propped on same step bench with risers

3 sets of 20 of each of these:
~squats in the rack with 40# worth of weights on the bar
~seated calf raises with 45# weight on it. (could not get to 20. Reached failure. Maybe a lighter weight next time (?)

This was my first time working out in this manner. I usually stick to a pyramid type lifting regimine with heavier weights but wanted to mix it up with circut training.

Then I hopped back on the bike. Heart rate was already way up and I sweated hard for 30 minuets.

So, drank my PWO shake and 20 more oz of water just now.

More later.

PLEASE feel free to make any suggestions. Eventhough I research a lot, I sometimes feel like I don't know what I'm doing but I do plan my workouts and I always work really hard at them. I am teachable but don't expect to be babysat either.

~

Were you mad that guys were gawking at you?

Or, mad that they were not gawking at you?

Sounds like a great training and cardio session, CM. I'm just a novice, but it seems like 12-16 sets are perfect per bodypart. I'm sure BKM, Tat, and our other fine ladies will chime in with more succinct suggestions.

Great going girlie! Good on your water consumption!

you mean 12-16 reps per set? how many sets? lol? Sheesh, i have a lot to learn.

20 seemed like way too much on my calves. I can tell you that right now! I totally failured out on those early on but then went back to my squats and did it again to failure. So, maybe lighter weight or fewer reps? I'll hush now and see if anyone has any input.

No , sorry, I meant 12-16 sets, total... Looks like you had 4 different exercises at 3 sets each. I've heard that 12-16 (total) sets (per body part) is a pretty optimal routine. I think you did fantastic:)

You don't have to tell me that!

Fab, that is SO important. All the looking good thing is great, but it is not going to keep your butt going to the gym.

One thing I love for women to get is that how training smart (once you are in good shape) doesn't really take all that much effort to stay in shape.

It is a really good thing to inspire others to be fit and well.

Especially the kids :)
