Confused about Bench Shirt Now, PowerlifterJay, the Mann, 1dawg Need advice Big time

Well i agree with 1 dawg on the denim. I my self use an open back double denim with the neck cut out and freakin love it! But you need to be able to lock out big weight. I would go with a denim 100%. Dont even waste your money on poly if your gonna switch anyway. I mean you get poly now you will want denim later. That i gaurantee. The grooves are very different so you might as well get used to it now. Now i used a regulare 2xdenim radical cut without cutting the neck out and loved it and used it for a long time, but when i cut one of my shirts out the back i couldnt get anything down for awhile and what would go down i dont know if it would come back up. Now i have am used too and love my cut neck open back. But know way would i get it liek that too start. My first denim i subtraced 1 inch from my chest 1 inch from shoulders and got arms exact (rerlaxed all parts) And it did wonders for my bench. I know go 3 sizes too small in my shoulders and 6 sizes toom small in chest and 1 inch too small in arms. And i mean every person i have ever helped them size like me cant use it at all. So i would wait on the radically small shrits for awhile. So my 2 cents go 2x denim velcro with radical cut, except arms, subtract 1 inch in chest and shoulders., Relaxed. What do you bench by the way? That may help some too.

Single denim or double denim? I will definately go with the radical cut, and the velcro.
But should I get a double denim just yet, I only bench 390 raw at 198 bodyweight, its only my first month powerlifting.

Powerlifter Jay you are saying double will that be too much right now, I am pretty much ready to order the shirt and a little better equipped to make the right decision, you fucking guys are unbelievable, powerlifting certainly is a tight brotherhood, I noticed it at the meet I went to , everybody was helping everybody even though they were strangers, every body roots you on even if your just doing a ridiculously low opener, it was great there was love there.

So double or single denim?

and..Is that your final answer? haha

Exactly how hard is it to get in one? Say a newbie to the bench shirt got a poly, would he need a few people to help him get it on? Or could he swing it himself?

You guys are giving out great info here. Just was wondering if you could throw the answer to this out too. Thanks

Even though I should probably be the last person answering questions here, from what I saw at the meet this past Saturday, you'll definately need help getting into a shirt and depending how tight you size it will probably determine how much help you need, whether your a newbie or a pro, a tight shirt is a tight shirt. Shit sometimes I need my wifes help getting my damn undershirts on in the morning if they shrunk a little in the wash. LOL

Peace,
Hope this helps a little,
Mike

There is no way a proper fitted shirt even if its exact no deductions, there is no w2ay you could swing it alone. Its not tough my wife helped me in my first shirt. And i would go double denim now for you naturakl mike. When i got my first 2x denim i was benching around 425 raw touch n go. With my first poly i could pause 410. That was less then my raw touch ngo. I got a double denim and in one month from jan 2000 to feb 2000 i went from a 415 to a 450 just from my shirt. My tri were strong but i needed help out of the bottom. i was 220lbs . Check your self go to www.apa-wpa.com click the the address when you see it then go to contest results. My first was nov 6th 1999 i benched 405 in palm bay fl. Look then at jan 2000 in st pete. I did 415 at 220. Then look at feb 19th i think in palm bay fl again you will see 450 in one month. And just for the hell of it look at the nationals sept 18th 2001 in st pete were i hit 585 and set a fl st record. I since have gone over 600. My point is ya i have gotten stronger but i up grade shirts as my tris get stronger. Not my raw bench, my tris. Tested on boards n shit. The nationals i was in the 242's and those other meets i am 220 name is jason k. I have other meets there but those will sell you on denim. Bro i believe in them and if you learn them and traIN your tris hard as hell, tourcher them! You will bench big gaurenteed. If your contest or paused bench doesnt go up at least 25 to 50 lbs the moment your denim goes on its fitted wrong. My post up top showed the right measurements for your first 2x denim. So get 2x. Good luck.

Jay I may have jumped the gun. I ordered my INZER SINGLE ply denim last night with the exact measurements you showed me. Single ply radical cut with velcro, personally at this point I think single ply might be best for me. they said I have a 2 week exchange period and 6 month guarantee, I'm going to give the single ply about 2 weeks if its not as hard to use as everyone says then I will go with the exchange for a double denim. Personally I am not that concerned, I think I will make good with the shirt and upgrade at a later date, most people thiknk I am nuts to go with a denim as my first shirt, but I dont have any contests coming up and I might as well master the better shirt which seems to be by popular vote ...denim. Only problem now is I have to wait about a month for the shirt she said, oh well thats 1 month to get my tri's to master status.

Thanks all, I will keep you posted on my progress when I get the damn shirt, Jay I know your probably thinking I should have got the double and you may be right but a lot of people of this board have told me you'll never get anything to touch your chest witha double unless you use doofy weight. I will see what happens.

However, one statement you made powerlifter Jay is a great one, that I should see immediate improvement once I put the shirt on, that is what I am looking for, if I do not see shit or see very little and I can touch the weight to my chest then what may be the problem, should I go even smaller?

The reason I mentioned able to touch the weight to my chest is obviously if I can do that then shirt is not too too tight.

Thanks again,
Mike
I'm f*cking syked to get this shirt but now I have to wait a while for it.

no problem, but it will be a while from now, those denim shirts are customed made, takes time. Will update once I start benching 800. haha
Peace,
And thanks again everybody
Mike
