Competition pics

How does my wife compare to other natural bodybuilders? This was her first competition. Been training for 3 years, weighed in at 115 at 5'9.

Even 115 for me is too light. And I'm 5'4" and a drug-free bodybuilder.

However, this was her first contest. I would take the next year and add some LBM.

I'm with Cheetarah: pic too small.

One more thing: don't worry how your wife compares to others (or tell your wife she shouldn't compare herself to others). IMO, in bodybuilding competitions you compete against yourself. Improve upon yourself. She'll do just fine! :)

Can't see the pic very well (too small) and although I've actually never competed, when I see a bodybuilder with stats of 5'9" and only 115 lbs, first thing that comes to my mind is "way too thin".

I am a natural bodybuilder (as in never in my life used AS) and you said you wanted a comparison so here it is:

I'm currently 5'5" at 140 lbs, 16% bodyfat (been as low as 15%) and have been training for 3 years as well. And I've been told I look like an offseason bodybuilder. I can't even remember when I only weighed 115 lbs! I weighed between 118-120 lbs when I graduated from HS, that's the lowest I can remember weighing, and I'm 4 inches shorter!

Yeah, what Cheetarah sais multiple times. The pic is too small, but as a natty myself who competes at 5'5" and around 130lbs and 8% body fat, I can imagine she will do better in future if she takes a few years to gain some more muscle. But I'm sure she looked great for a novice.

Sorry about that, it was taking SO LONG to post the reply that I stopped it several times to try it again and that's what happened. Darn it! It's been taking like 10 minutes just to post one reply! Grrrrr!

Considering she's only trained for 3 years, she has a nice balanced physique. Putting on muscle naturally takes time (as I'm sure she's figured out), and kudos to your wife for having the guts to compete after only 3 years of training! I know I wasn't at that place mentally after I'd been training for 3 years. It took me 9 years of training before I was ready to compete. :-)

Ditto on the low weight, not that I can talk too much. I'm 5'10 (ok, 5'9 1/2) and plan on competing around 130 lbs. (maybe less, depends on how lean I am) in NABBA Figure in June. Right now, I'm at ~136 lbs. (better be on Saturday, at least); offseason I weigh 145-147 lbs. We're just supposed to be really lean though, not thick, so I can get away with it. Plus, we're in height classes, not weight classes; your wife will get compared to a 5'2 woman who weighs 115 and looks much fuller.

We'd love to have her on the boards (hint, hint)!

What JJ said -- its an awesome thing to do your first competition! The question now is where do you want to go from here? If she wants to continue competing she should really just focus on beefing up. She's got great proportions - the pic is a little grainy but she already has a nice bicep peak going, nice quad shape, abs & nice calves. (Sometimes hat bi peak or calves can be a bitch to build if you don't aren't "born" with it.) I can't speak for shoulders, back & chest from that pose. 115 at her height is scary lean for me (I'm 5'7" & my best competition weight was 133 at 8%), but I'm not built as a lean person at all.

The other thing is that if she chooses to continue competing, there is either the BB or the figure route. I bet she'd kick some serious butt in figure. Something to keep in mind there is if she wants to stay natural & compete, keep in mind that if the competition organization (e.g. NPC) is NOT explicitly natural or "tested", then she will most likely be up against "performance enhanced" competitiors. This is annoying if you are trying to pursue the natural route and expecting some top placings in the comps. BB comps will probably start expecting some more beef on her in general.

Again, depends on where she wants to take it. Awesome first shot tho!

Two questions -
How did she place in that comp & can you post a back or chest shot? (while we are offering our comments on physique;))
