chest workout today...

loaded up 430 on that baby and hit 3 sets of 10 reps. Using the flat hammer strength machine. The one with the slight incline. Man, that baby hits you like no other. Too bad not a fucking gym in FTL has one. Not Worlds, not Golds, not even fucking Balleys.

Rest-pause-technique on the bench press. Try it stud. Do 10 reps, rest 30 secs, do another 7 reps, rest 30 secs and die trying to get another 5.

I used to go heavy all the time, after I added this technique with some other drop sets it has made my workouts a very painful experience. You will also get stronger.
 
although many of the purists here put down hammer strength equipment; i like it!! i can go heavy and not worry about having to yell for a spot on the last rep.
 
I use hammer strength equipment in my routines on a weekly basis. IMO - they have some good chest and back equipment in particular.

I wish I could broly, those things cost big bucks though, don't they? Last chest day I hit 6 plates on a side for 4 reps. If your ever up this way, you gotta hit my Gym! :)

Can I assume you can handle more using the machine instead of a flat bench and freeweights?

Hammer is da shit, best machine choice decision our Y ever made.

Yes, it quite easy to load a hammer machine up, nowhere near as difficult as flat barbell or dumbells.

Ah gotcha........I'll have to have a go on one of these machines one day.
 
Man, that machine is kick ass. I don't really care for the hammer strength where you sit upright. But the one you lay down on and it has a little incline so the tension shifts to the upper pecs.

430 for 10 doesn't sound all that impressive, especially for a machine weight, but if assploer did it the way I have seen him do sets on the couple of times we trained together, then it must be a big deal. He is very slow and methodical with his rep speed. You would think he is sputtering out and getting stuck and you better lift the bar, but that is just on the first rep.... then he cranks out more.

Like dorian said... those muscles don't know if you are lifting free weights, cables, machines or a Spice Girl.
