check out this bench press stroke PIC

Bench Stroke...

I believe that's the Women's Chinese Heavyweight. The Chinese are masters at "arching". It certainly takes something away from the bench press but technically it is still within the rules. I don't agree with the extreme arch that some competitors utilize. It creates a "bastardized" form of the bench press. My .02!

So some people have a biomechanical advantage for a certain lift. This usually tends to hurt them on another lift. If I could cut my stroke down like that I sure would. I might finally hit my goal of a double bodyweight bench.

I wonder what would they do if one of these contortionists could arch even more than this? The moment she unracks the bar it will already be on her chest :) Will she still be required to perform any kind of movement?

Anyone remember the arch Lamar Gant had? If my spine was that flexible, I would never leave the house.

Oh, I am not so sure I would not. I still remember the SI with the x-ray of his spine. I might be willing to trade to be 15-time world champ. He is my favorite PL'er of all time. Not too many people have records still standing after twenty years.

I wonder what she (Chen) can pull? I would think that the gut would get in the way, to say nothing of the short little T-rex arms.
