It depends on too many factors to tell you. Everyone is different i cut up nicely with morning fasted cardio...others loose alot of muscle. Some people will take BCAAS before and during there AM cardio, if your doing liss you should be fine fasted otherwise i recommend BCAAS or a small protein snack before hand
Get into keto and do some medium intensity training. Keep your heart rate at around 65% of MHR and you won't be burning much in the way of muscle. Keto does wonders for trimming down without losing muscle.
Or, you can do an IF style protocol using BCAA's and Omega 3 fish oils before training. 10g BCAA and 2-3g of omega 3 oil should stave off catabolism fairly well.
Your body will use glucose/glycogen ---- fat---- then as a last resort protein. most of the protein that your body uses is not from tissue (muscle/organs)
kagenical is right on the money. First few weeks in keto, keep carbs as close to zero as possible. You can get the keto test strips from walmart. Although I've heard most people that are surely in ketosis only piss "trace" according to the strips, as most people drink enough water to dilute. So don't fret if you don't get your strips dark purple.
