How many grams of carbs are you consuming daily?? And your cutting you dont need to consume carbs pre-workout...just as long as you got your meal (high protein w/veggies) in 1.5 hours before..

It can be helpful to consume them before a workout; Depending on how it effects your workout. I recommend consuming a "light" protein and carb shake during or immediately before your workout, basically around 20g whey isolate and 40g dextrose or a dextrose/malto mix.

Since by your post you are currently proposing taking in carbs at but 2 meals, I would suggest why not do a TKD style diet? This seems it would fit your needs exactly.

Probably depends on the person.

I have to take carbs before my workout or else I'll have no energy for the workout.

Exactly why I suggested the TKD. It works for me. I have lots of trouble with a CKD for instance.

It all depends on what time of day you are doing your cardio and how many grams of overall carbs you are taking in. I am dieting right now and I do my cardio in the morning and have only a whey isolate shake before I go. That way there are no carbs in my system and my body burns fat. Then I train in the evening, Ifind I get better workouts that way and maintain more muscle mass as my muscles are full of glycogen by the time evening rolls around.

If your energy is lagging in the afternoon/evening try taking in some branched chain aminos, something like Amino Vital Fast Charge, I swear by the stuff.

It's an idea that I stopped recommending, let me give you an example. Whey protein tends to convert to glucose in the body at a 50-54% rate, making it a very ineffecient source of neither protein nor glucose. Thus, protein intake is not a stubstitution for energy supportive foods; rather, something like MCT oil is a better way to go.
