Can you tell how experienced someone is by...

It COULD be lack of experience, or maybe just the awkwardness of having sex with someone for the first time, or even first few times. I know some guys I have been with the first time was awkward on both parts, and some they totally rocked my world, and vice versa. Just depends on the person/mood/situation I suppose.

Experience lets you figure-out the person's hotbuttons faster. Usually for the first time, you either have to play around a little (fingers, tongue) to figure-out how she "works" or be more blunt -- just ask 
Unless this is first-contact sex, chances are you've played around a little physically and verbally (with sexually-related talk). She's probably given you clues along the way.
Figuring-out the combination to the safe can be as fun as cracking it open though... think of it as a puzzle!
I wouldn't consider a rough first-run with someone the result of "lack of experience" though. Even experienced people sometimes guess wrong or read a cue incorrectly. Now... if we're talking the 4 or 5th run, you got a problem there!
