Can someone please explain this diet-related question?

I have been dieting very strict Monday thru Friday, basically keeping my cars below 100g/day, eating about 280g protein/day, and taking Flax seed oil twice per day as well. On the weekends I eat anything I want, such as Taco Bell, MacDonalds, Krispy Kreme, you name it.

What I have noticed is that during the weekdays when I am dieting strict, my cheeks are loose on my face. Not so loose where it seems like I'm retaining water, but definitely loose. But on the weekends when I indulge with foods consisting of high carb, high fat, and high sodium, my face actually tightens up. It is Monday morning right now, and I have been stuffing my face with junk food all weekend, and this morning my face was really tight. In fact, my entire body was extremely vascular and tight. I would think that my body should be more tight when I am dieting and eating right, but the reverse occurs on the weekends when I eat like shit.

Can someone explain this?

Thanks guys,

SAF

When you are dieting and lowering your carbs low, it causes you to look flat...you loose a lot of your vascularity...once you carb and fat laod, your body sucks it up into the muscle cell, giving you killer pumps, tight skin, and increasing the fluid in your blood, causing vascularity...

You're holding more water...and your high GI index carb and fat intake is filling you out...

Hey saf, your carb loading which is causing a spike in your insulin levels which will cause glycogen to be rushed to your muscles, making you feel more pumped and fuller. That is why the pros carb up before the show, so they fill out and look hard rather than go in flat.

You're almost on the classic 5 day carb deplete, 1 day carb load diet. What you are seeing is nothing unusual for that diet. Muscles will tend to go flat during the 5 days of carb depletion. And then when you pump them full of carbs, they blow up. Keep on doing it and you'll be O.K.

O.K. maybe that last answer was too obvious. You probably knew most of that already. Here is a theory that is just a personal opinion. Your skin is like clothing over your muscles. When your muscles aren't full, the "clothing" (a.k.a. skin) fits looser. When the muscles are full, the skin gets stretched in every direction and gets tighter. I notice that when I weigh 5 - 10 pounds more, you can actually see my abs better. I think this is because when I weigh less, my skin is looser.

I must say, it's a great feeling. I really dont know why the hell I'm dieting in the first place. The low carb diet Monday thru Friday blitz is a real bitch, and I really dont think I can lower my BF anymore than it is without the help from GH, which I dont plan on wasting $$ on anyway.

Hey Steve, I took your advice bro. I'm not buying another M3. I got the insurance $$ for my car and I plan to buy a brand new house in Suffolk next year. It's definitely a wiser investment. I cant believe it, but I'm becoming civilized! Only normal, civilized people think like that. Oh God, the tragedy :D

i tried the keto diets for a while and it never worked. I would notice that i would hold alot of water on it and would look overakl bad all the time. Well since ive been following a 40 protein-30carbs-30fats diet i look tight all the time...my abs pop out and feel hard all the time. And i loose around 1 to 2 pds evryweek on it. Plus the pumps i get at the gym are great. So now I am very against keto diets....at least personally speaking. Maybe the keto type diet dont work for u. I mean i myself asked Mr X why the diet wasnt working or wat i was doing wrong and he said that the keto diet simply doesnt work for everyone, everyones different. He also said (and i quote) "when it comes down to it...its mostly a matter of calories in vs. calories out. So my point in all this: Dont be afraid to tweak and tune your diet to fit your personal needs...u dont have to follow a diet exactly one way just because it is written that way.

CHEERS!

Oh shit, is THIS the reason I feel "buffer" / harder / whatever the morning after pizza day?

i'm low carb all week as well except for one or two days a week during which i actually look better... but i noticed that if i binge two days IN A ROW, on the third day i start feeling like roseanne, so i space out my cheating days the few times i decide to have more than one a week...

does that make sense?

What the fuck are you talking about? :D

Just kidding. That makes sense to me. It's strange, after I diet for 5 days straight, I'll have 2 days in a row where I'll binge on anything I can get my hands on. On the third day, I'm ripped and vascular as hell. But I'm thinking that 2 days in a row might be excessive.

I dont know how much more of this dieting I can take. A few minutes ago I cracked and gave it and went down to the store and got me a Vanilla and Almonds Haagen Daz ice cream bar. That should spike my metabolism! :D
