I don't think I saw anyone on this thread say that it was currently Legally between a Man/Woman, outside of those few states that actually have made that Constit amendment recently.
Religion has stated it as so, or someones opinion that is should be so.
U.S. Marriage Law is an "assumed historical legal institution between 1 man and 1 woman of consenting age" with several actual Legal differences State to State such as age, relationship restrictions etc.
Each state currently does NOT legally have to honor or recognise another states marriage license. They simply do for ease of people moving across state lines.
My point is that unless it is legally defined in some way at a Federal level chaos will ensue when people move across state lines under this concept of each state being able to recognise Gay Unions or not.
