First of all, I may get flamed for this(..lol...) but to allow such a deviant lifestyle to be recognized, by the governing state, is outlandish. Marriage is between Man and Woman. PERIOD!!!
Secondly, I find that it is just a precursor to worse things. Such as our country becoming more Liberal, higher STD rates and adoptions by same sex couples(I'll catch shit for that...no pun intended).

a - good, our country needs to be more liberal - keep prayer out of public schools (because there are those of us that don't believe that way) and keep abortion legal

b - higher STD rates? Where the fuck do you get this? The higher STD rates will come, regardless, because we're promoting abstinence and less emphasis on condoms. Thank George W for that

c - adoptions by same sex couples would be good - more homes for kids because their HETEROSEXUAL PARENTS brought them into this world and didn't have a plan after that

It effects society. In the long term, it will have a huge impact on the way our country operates and it's perception from the rest of the world.

You're right - hopefully it will curb some of the violence directed toward gay men in other countries.

As for operation, yes - there'll be more people serving in the military and less suicide rates among gay teenagers that are having a hard time accepting the fact that they're gay . . .

The last thing I want while in the ARMY is to be serving next to some powder-puff, pole smoker.
I agree that violence should be curbed, but against all people. I do not condone violence one bit.
Less suicide.....among gay teens.......hmmmm.....Well, the last thing I want to here is a young teens killing themselves. But, to he honest, I don't think gay marriage would deter that at all. Maybe more education would help, or shit, I don't want to say shock therapy but maybe something to help them turn back to the Light Side of the Force.

ok look i am not going to sit here and debate about this situation, BUT AAP i never said i had any thing wrong with homosexuals....On a personal note my cousin is homosexual and he is the funniest,sweetiest man i have seen.......NOW just because my beliefs are different doesnt mean that i am a "gay basher" i hold nothing against homosexuals i just IMO think that marriage is meant for man and woman. When a homosexual gets married will i wish them good luck and attend the ceremony OF COURSE I WILL, but it doesnt mean that i have to agree with the way of life..It is not for me to tell any one when they are wrong because we are all different people with different opinions in this world.

Same Sex unions being recognised differently from State to State will get real
real interesting when a legal couple in Cali or other state that does recognise it, moves to a different state that does Not recognise their union, and they go to court over it.. All the way to Federal court.

If you are gonna go down this road of Same Sex "unions" getting legal recognition and rights(which IMO they should have), then it should be at a Federal level for this one reason alone IMO.

If you leave the sacred term of Marriage out of the issue, most people accept this as the right thing to do.

What about man (father) and woman (daughter)? That fits your criteria of it being man and woman, so let's allow that too.

Your own criteria is flawed and thus subject to be bent and twisted to the whims of the interpretor. Which is why a concrete law is not going to satisfy all.
