Bodybuilders of 10, 20, 30 years ago had the same amazing physques that we all see today. Physiques that we would kill for. But those BB's of years back didn't have shit like CLA, r-ALA, Creatine, NO2 etc etc etc. You get the picture! Yet! Without all this shit...they still became beasts! Right??? Ok! So therefore...is it really necessary for US to take those supplements that are available to us today? They did back in the past without all these supps! Why do we need them?

if you take gear, you don't need those supplements you mentioned. the only supplements i use are whey protein, multi-v, and omega-3's.

To add to Carth's perspective, the reality of bodybuilding is that it takes years of training, serious training. I do disagree with Carth on the size of the heros of the past compared to the brute beasts of today. No comparison. Stack any of those from Arnold's time up against those of today, no comparison. Do you really see a Frank Zane winning the Olympia anytime soon? I think not.

Not to put anyone down, I say, to each in his own time. They were champions at the time we needed them.

PEACE

I agree bro but Ive been flamed for saying it. They also trained hareder than most on here. Oh and the kicker...No anti'E's back in the day....They were taking dbol and deca to...So whats up with there pct. Someone has to have the fucking answer I wish they would step up.....I think alot of supps are crap. I take protein vit and essential fatty acids thats it.

not to mention think of the acual number of beasts today versus then.

there were like 300 guys vs. 300,000 bodybuilders today..... big deal they all had superior genetics... you can get away with alot if you have the god given genes.

i think the supplements today help people that are not so god blessed in the muscle department.

Off topic but holy shit carth, your back looks f**ckin huge in that avatar. Thats serious shape bro, Good work. The tattoo sets it off too!!

Is it important to take vitimin sups then? i dont really eat enough fruit and veg, will it hinder gains if i dont get enough V?

Those guys really busted their asses off back then. Taping themselves up, chalk flying around, yelling/screaming, puking in buckets, etc.
Pros AND non-pros training hard.

When I recall training back when I was youngster(16) compared to now, I barely see the "typical gym guy" even breaking a sweat.
There is just too much dependency now on drugs and supplements, instead of hard training nowadays.

Most gyms now do not even allow the use of chalk. Sweating is frowned upon. Yelling and screaming will get your membership revoke.
Gyms have now mostly just become social "athletic clubs" and "working out" now refers to simply showing up at a gym.

I do think r-ALA, EFA's, multi-vit's are decent supplements.
It still comes down to consistent hard training and a good diet, with some help from the AAS.
Things like creatine and NO2 are just a waste though.

You gotta remember though, that back then they weren't taking the mega dosages that guys are today. They obviously knew something about taking care of all those things because how many pros did you see or hear of back then that had gyno or super bad backne or really bad "OFF-SEASON" pics??

In another post a member said that back then the standard dosage was so low compared to today that guys thought Ken Waller was going to kroak when he started taking 250mg of deca, or something like that. (Sorry if I misquoted, but you get my point).
