Box Squat Help...

b fold the truth

Ok...I video everything that I do in the gym and watch the tapes later. I copy them to cd and take pics from them when I can...to see how I can improve my technique.

This pic is from my box squatting session on Wednesday. My stance is about 50" at it's widest point. I am 6'2". I feel very odd going any wider and it puts stress on my hips.

Here are some pics...

Taking it from the racks...

I'm not pressing out with my feet as you can see my looking at my shoes. My knees aren't perfectly straight up from my ankles (maybe from my closer than normal stance???). My back is not tightly arched (due to lower box, leaning fwd, close stance???).

Thoughts???

Do you pronate (walk on either the outside or the insides of your feet) when you walk. I;m not a PL and hardly a genius at squatting, but if you have one leg shorter than the other and twist your hips, (even as little as 1/2 inch), this could make a difference in your squat.

Try a heel pad in your shoes and roll your knees towards the outside.

Get your toes pointing forward, and press your knees out, and don't rock forward to ascend.

Yes...when I stand my left shoulder is about 1-2" higher than my right. That might also be why I seem to favor my right leg more..maybe.

To think that a squat shoud be simple..lol

you definately want to push your knees out as you push up to drive you hips into the lift. try looking up and finding a focal point to keep you from lunging foward all the way thru the set.
