in my experience, on a comeback i have always returned and overshot very quickly what i had achieved earlier, both in terms of bodyweight & PRs. what i'm saying is that once i reach my previous max weight, i will cross it at a much faster rate then the gain rate prior to the layoff. however, i'm not sure if this is muscle memory, a form of deconditioning, or my better knowledge about training/diet the second time.
