better carb source: Brown rice vs. Beans

Brown rice is one of my main staples, I have it for atleast 3 meals per day. Lately, I've been eating beans more often, mostly in my meal 1 hour before my workouts and I have to say that I feel a lot more energy at the gym since. So, is there a real explanation, like the gi rating or something, could it be that since I eat brown rice so much, my body reacts different to the beans or is it just a matter of personal preference? Which do you prefer?

Beans have more protein and fiber, if that counts for you. If you (subjectively) feel more energy with beans, eat em up!

Beans make me fart too much.

I would say combine them. Neither brown rice nor beans have complete amino profiles. However, when you combine the two, you DO get the complete amino profile. In other words, if you take in both together, you get useable protein as well as a great carb source. Best of both worlds bro.

That's what I do (well, I did until my gf politely requested that I stop eating beans).

Ah I see. I use black beans alot. They are awesome. That is all :)

Ever try them?
yes, I like to buy an assortment (black, pinto, kidney, garbanzo and the white ones that look like kidney beans), I like making a bean salad with them, adding olive oil and chicken. I also like beans scrambled with eggs in the morning or beans with chicken pre-workout.

Kidney beans (not the red ones)
Lima, Pinto, Romano .... beans

All good

With tomatoe sauce it's even better
