best way to get in shape? i suck at running!

Any activity which can get your heart rate up to at least 140 bpm can be used to improve your cardio fitness. Running, cycling, swimming, treadmills, cardio machines are all good. However, to get really good at cardio, you are going to have to do alot of it. This will hurt your strength and mass gains, but that is why you don't see 250lb triathletes.
 
Rowing is king

It might be hard to find an ergometer at a gym near you, so my choice was to simply bite the bullet and buy one.

Nothing except cross-country skiing comes close.

i have just completed my 2nd day of Mixed Martial Arts and we had to run the obstacle course for 5 mins after 3-3min rounds of sparring...i lasted about 2 on the o-course! can someone help me find a way to get in bettah shape, i ride the stationary bike for 30mins but i guess that doesnt help much
