Best protein??

Syntha 6 is good I like a regular whey protein for around workouts and in the morning the rest of the day you should get your protein from food

I get around 165 from my food and use the protein shakes to get me up to or over 200 grams.

I use optimum nutrition and isopure but I just found whey isolate from cyto sport it's cheap tastes fantastic and has a great nutrition profile.

for post workout you will want whey protein like others said. quick absorbing so it gets to your muscles quickly to help the recovery and building process. your body can only digest so much protein at a time so taking more and more is not the answer.

now protein is key to building new muscle but you also need a good amount of carbs to go with it. instead of asking what protein is best for gaining mass and strength.. a better question would be what kind i take with my protein. the answer is quick absorbing carbs.. especially for post workout and early in the morning when you first wake up. great option for these are maltodextrin and waxy maize. both are cheap and easy to get. you could even go with simple table sugar or honey. and don't be shy with how many grams you take.. the more the better. as long as you hit the weights hard you will not have any problem with using too much. too know how many carbs post workout u should take.. u should take your total body weight, caught that in half and that is the minimum amount of carbs u want to go with it.. but the more u take the more u will grow. for example.. i have 210 pounds.. so post workout my minimum simple carb uptake should 105 grams.

taking whey protein as soon as you wake up, for a pre-workout meal, and for a post workout is the most ideal times to trigger growth. taking whey in the morning and for post workout will quickly rush amino acids in to your muscles getting your body out of its catabolic state and into an anabolic one by placing putting the body back into a positive nitrogen state. which is what u always want.. especially when working out. it is a good idea to take a whey protein shake as a pre workout meal for the same reason. the protein will get quickly absorbed, prepping your muscles for the damage you are about ready to do to them, and there will be a steady supply of bcaas and other amino acids protecting and restoring the muscles as you break them on.

Optimum nutrition gold standard has been my go to for years, been using dynmatize elite lately

Ride it like you stole it!!

you need to make sure though that you are getting good sources of whole foods through the day as well. since the whey is quickly absorbed.. it leaves your muscles hungry shortly after using.. this will cause your body to start dropping into a state of a negative nitrogen balance and will become more catabolic. chicken, fish, eggs are great options and take a few hours to digest. this is why you want to eat every 2-3 hours so you keep your muscles full and in a positve nitrogen balance.

like i said in the previous post tho, your body can only digest and use so much protein so that is not the only factor into growing. carbs and fat are key as well. you want to eat a steady supply of complex and and high fiber carbs through out the day. the protein will build the muscle but the carbs will give your body the access to add more. if you are trying to grow, the more the better just start cutting them out later in the day so you dont have to worry about fat storage.

for growing it is said you want to consume at least 1 gram of protein minimum for every pound you weigh, and 2 grams of carbs. i like to eat for the size i want to be, not the size i currently am.

will will want to make sure you are consuming plenty of healthy fats. all 3 macro nutrients are important for growth. you can learn to manipulate the times you consume this.. like pre and post workout as you go, to better increase your results

sorry for the long posts.. but i have one more thing

the final thing i will say is the addition of casein (slow digesting) protein before bed is a good idea. like i said previously, the key to growing is maintaining a positive nitrogen state in your muscles. since you are not eating while you are sleeping.. your body slowly sleeps into a catabolic state. taking a slow digesting protein before you go to bed will keep your muscles fed throughout the night. you can either buy casein protein powder.. which can get quite expensive. or you can eat a cup of cottage cheese and get the same effect
