bench stuck one inch of my chest...

There ought to be a sticky on here for quotes like CoolColJ's "Use less weight" I was laughin my ass off.

Im a big fan of weighted dips. These seem to help in that range for me. Also using wide grip bench will put more grunt in your chest strength.

Dont unerestimate triceps either... throw in some JM presses or...
dare I say, skull crushers. I switched out JM for skull crushers tonite and I really felt it in my tris.

What are the best movements for this?

Chest supported rows, bentover BB rows, and T-Bar rows all will work the lats in the bench plane. You can experiment wih havening "palms facing" vs "palms away" to see which you feel more in your lats. I tend to feel it in my lats more using a "Palms away" grip. But try both and see which suits you.

For lats?

COULD add some meat to the upper back which COULD give you a better base on the bench which COULD help your bench. i've personally never tried that, so i can't say it's a positive thing

I could see the logic behind that.

But it doesn't seem like that would help getting the bar off the chest like the original post stated as the problem.

Ok, I feel stupid! :splat:

I miss understood that one, I thought you where going to come up with some movements which focus on the lats in the same plain and DIRECTION! I had visions of decline benches or dips…

My Bad :D

Rows and illegal wide bench press will work your lats. Do your speed work to build explosive strength.

Board press work your lockout and floor presses work your midpoint.

Are you sure your failing an inch off and not higher? I ask becasue when your guessestimating yourself it's easy to underestimate how high the bar is. Have a buddy tell you where you fail.
