Bench form???

Hey guys I already checked elitefts.com for a bench form pic and found one, but doesn't show a close up and it's a lil hard to see exact. What is the proper bench form b/c when I benched 245 today my coach said I had a crappy form doing it and it was ALL tricep, he wouldn't let me go up anymore b/c my form sucked according to him. If I did that and it really was all tri then I wasn't using anything else I know I coulda done more but i'm not maxing again for another minimum 6 weeks after westside training. Ques1: Where can I see a short video or a pic on perfect bench form???????Ques2:What's the proper form to do floor presses is it the same form for bench??????Thanx
 
Would any of you recommend for me to use a bench shirt??? Or should I do westside for the first 6 weeks see how I like it and if get stuck or am getting stuck then jump on it???? Do any of you know if bench shirts are legal in high school competition???? Thanx
 
If you are so worried about what your coach thinks, get him to show you what he considers perfect form.

Then again, you could just forget him, train hard (your gonna try to train with flap, right?) and enter a powerlifting comp. When you are picking up titles, your coach will have to listen.

But anyway, you said he wouldnt let you use more weight......do you think that you had more in you?

ALL triceps?? What was his point? Did he think that you should be using your "pecs"...hahaha. The bench is little more than bar speed and tricep lockout. Your lats and leg drive get it moving with enough speed to break through the sticking point and your triceps take over *a little help from the delts as well*

PLEASE...ask this "coach" what he considers proper form (high on the chest press back towards the rack probably). This I want to hear. BTW does your school need an assistant coach....I will have my Exercise Science degree soon.
 
Well I can't train ever workout with flap(Bob) I went down there with him and I went on a Spead bench day, but only 2 people were lifting that's cool though but I really didn't pay much attention to there form (I SHOULD HAVE THOUGH). The thing is I'm not sure what's the proper form I don't completely understand elbows tucked up does that mean when you come down your elbows and tris are close to body. He meant that I could have gotten some help from my pecs, shoulders, lats, delts, but did it ALL TRI's. I believe I could have done more weight than that 245 I was sooo pumped I was shooting for 260 and he said "stay at this and mainly don't worry about weight worry about your bench form". He showed me what should be proper form then I tried it with only 205 and struggled the way he said either I was already tired since I rested and should have done it right after that, but whatever I tried his way. The thing is I wanna compete for my high school ( i have ALOT of school pride) but I dont wanna get screwed out of a weight I can do and not be able to do it. Sorry but his weigh of maxing us out works for me, where he sends us out of the room puts somethin on the bar then you come in without seeing the weight bench it if u feel u got it easy say more weight go out and do it again until it's one u struggle at. His form iis in the middle area of the chest where your nipples are. About the coaching job he might be leaving next year and we won't have a PL coach. Right now I dont know if he wants an assitant, I can find out for ya. What part of FL are u in.

You feel you had 260 your way...and struggled with 205 his way?

If you felt you had 260, take 225 as your last warmup, tell him to shove that blindfold put 260 on the bar and throw that shit up. Are you gonna wear the blindfold at competition. You gotta learn to deal with the numbers in your head. You got to WANT the heavier weight. You play the way you practice. Stop with the tricks and get strong.

Is he gonna kick you off the team if you dont bench his way....high on the chest...elbows out...pressing back towards the rack 16" of bar travel. Hell just show him the difference in ROM. Hands out...elbows by your sides....low almost to your upper abs since you are shirtless. Your range of motion will be significantly less= MORE POWER! Plus there will be less shoulder rotation. What the hell more does he want. Its funny...the little bit of work I spend helpin athletes....most of it is wasted teaches them to UNLEARN what their "coaches" have taught them.

As for the coachin gig....dont have the credentials YET! I am about to be moving down Bob's way to finish up school at FAU. Then I'll get to work in his garage.
 
See I don't like his way of benching but I don't know honestly what's the correct form to bench and if really I am messing up. What I do like is the fact that I dont worry about the numbers on the bar see he kicks us out on max day and we go outside the whole time i was juppin up and down sayin "whatever fuck weight is on there i'ma get it" Well when I came in we warmed up i did 135 for 3 185 for 1 then rested a good 5 min gettin all hyped up outside and he put on the first lift 245 I got that like it wasn't shit but as soon as I got it he told me my form was fucked stay at that weight don't go higher and practice on my form. ur gonna finish up at FAU i have some friends that go there now one's a wrestler big guy and really fast. I might be going to FAU for college my first two years don't know yet, how old r u. Dude I thought u were in your late 20's. or early 30's b/c of your experience.

Well I have to say that I DO NOT agree with the go outside and let me decide thing. You gotta get your mind right, and be prepared to lift big weights.

As for me I just turned 26....can't a senior citizen go back to school?
 
take the trip back down and let Bob go over it with you(form),he will be able to watch you and make adjustments.it's going to be kind of hard looking at the pics on the internet and trying to do them,you really need someone that can help you in person(not your coach),also sounds like your coach isn' up to new ideas.....
and when you et a shirt your coach will really fuck that up.........
 
Hey han trust me since last night I read that post I've been trying to get it stuck in my head that if I can lift it off the bar I can bench it and if I can hold the weight on my back I can squat it. I keep repeating this to myself throughout the day and for the next 6 weeks that I'ma try training westside then max to see how I like it. About the age thing 26 ain't old and going back to school I'ma stil be in school when I'm 25 straight out of high school b/c I want to be a lawyer so it's cool. You ain't no senior I can tell ya that.

Mann well I'ma try to go back down but if I can find some vids(i'm stil lookin myself) I might be able to catch on b/c it's not like i've never benched before, and really he isn't all that much up to new ideas b/c he says his workout will work if you do it right and not that I don't doubt it b/c last year when I was liftin with him is when I went from 155lbs to 285lbs in 4 months, but then I quit lifting again, but for real I'm not going to quit anymore and I'm going to make it to a real meet one day go in there and kick some ass the thing about the shirt I was just asking if I'd be to new for it I know to break into the shirt you should wear it at all times. I was just wondering if anyone new if they were legal in High School meets and which one would I get if I was to buy it and how do the sizes run depending on measurement maybe I have no idea let me know, anyone.
