Beach Girl's Dieting Down for Summer Journal

Thanks for all of the encouragement ladies, I love loggin on and reading it, and reading all of your logs as well. Anyway I am having a few issues today, I look like I am 4 months pregnant because I am sooooo bloated. I am holding TONNES of water, damn pickles. For the past few days I have been eating pickles like they are candy to fill me up when I am hungry or just feel like munching. Practically no calories however sodium galore! Anyway I guess my newly developed pickle habit must be nipped in the bud. Any ideas for what else I can eat? Anyone know of any lower sodium pickles. My other problem is that I am majorly constipated. I don't know why, I eat 30-40 grams of fibre a day and drink about 3 liters of water usually. I guess I will have to talk to my diet guy about this, however I don't even want to go and weigh in this week, because I know I am heavier because of all the water and sh*t built up in me, it will mess with my head! (gross I know). Any ideas ladies on how to avoid these 2 obstacles? My boyfriend suggested taking a liquid fat supplement, however I don't want to add anything into my diet without my diet guy's approval, so I'll have to call him because he'll have to factor it into my overall fat intake. Anyway a new week has begun and I have to get back to work. My goal is now to be under 140 by May 12th, totally doable!!! 128 here I come;)
Yeah I think pickles are the devil I've been snacking on a few of them also. Could also try sugar free jell-o... Or the icebreakers sugar free candy. I know... just different options
Are you getting close to that time of month? Drinking enough water??

I am getting close to that time of the month, so that probably has something to do with it. I need to buy a platinum membership right away here, I wish I could show you all a pic of this belly lol. I am just waiting for someone to congratulate me!!!

Well we could congratulate you and ask you how far along you are :)

As for the snacking- try edame. edame = japanese soy beans, they are loaded with soy protein and fiber- low in sodium and only 100 calories (or so) per 1/2 cup- ALSO very low GI index. you can buy them frozen and shelled, just pop em in the microwave for 1-2 minutes and enjoy :)

Hi Ladies,
So I weighed in yesterday and I had gained back 2.5 lbs. I kind of lipped off my diet guy because this is a pattern now, losing a lot one week, then gaining back at least half the next. The diet is too low calorie for my activity level I think and I can only maintain it for 7 days at a time, hence the very bad yo-yo-ing. I told him to up my calories and my fats, and he did not like that idea. So I emailed a well known fitness competitor in my city today and asked her to take me on as a client. She owns and operates a studio gym and does personal training as well as dieting. She understands how to feed an active body. I am hoping that I can get in to see her ASAP and begin working with her.

As for now I am frustrated, my motivation comes in spurts. I do so well and then I eat too much, and hence beat myself up about it. To add insult to injury I got my hair done today and after spending over a year growing my hair out, my stylist chopped off way too much! I guess she doesn't understand the difference between a trim and a cut! So all that time spent growing my hair out wasted! Man I am pissed, it was finally starting to look really nice.

So yeah I am in a shitty mood, bad hair and feeling fat because I ate like shit for the past 2 days. I sure hope I can get to my goal by July 1. We have a wedding to go to on the second, and I want my man to look at me and imagine me as a beautiful bride.

Okay ladies that is all for now, as if I continue I will only expand upon my negativity and exascerbate my own attitude.

Hopefully I will have a good update in a few days when I can start working with Sandra.

Hello All, so I finally took the plunge and booked a bodyfat test (calipers) with a well known guy in my city who tests body comp. VO2 max etc. for a living. I am scared because I have no idea what I am at, however knowing will be important for my diet as well for gauging my success. I get tested next Wednesday morning, 2 days after my Monday weigh in. I also booked an appointment with Sandra the woman who does amazing diets, however I fear I might have to cancel it as she is very expensive and realistically I cannot afford her.

When I go see my diet guy on Monday I am going to make him refer me to one of his colleagues, who is experienced in dieting bb and fitness competitors. I do not plan to compete, however I train similarly (I think), and I need to lean down lots because I am hoping to do a bikini contest this summer.

Once my bf is tested I will post measurements and full stats, then a few days later when my diet is adjusted I will start logging that as well. Looking at Buffalogal's log inspired me!!! (Thanks Girl).

I am feeling way better today, attitude wise, however I can hardly wait to get on a diet I feel better on. Have a good weekend ladies, I am off to do some cardio. (Xenadrine Hardcore is amazing, it has tons of tyrosine in it and it helps me concentrate, thus cardio goes by way faster!)

You have just turned around what has otherwise been a pretty crappy week for me. Thanks ngb!! We're all here for you... :rose:

And the same for you too Buffalo, it is so nice to have a community of support like this. None of my girlfriends are really into training or dieting to the extent that I am, so it is nice to be able to talk to people who understand. You know the standard "You look fine why are you trying to lose weight?", to which my answer is "Well I don't want to look fine, I want to look better than fine!"

Anyway I have a quick question, I am interested in all of your opinions on the most efficient cardio for fat loss. I have started doing 60 minutes/day and I am going to try to do this 7 days a week, as I do not think that my body really needs much recovery from cardio. I am going at a moderare intensity, adding in 5 mins. or so here or there of high intensity and of course warming up and cooling down. I am walking on the treadmill for 30 min (no incline as I have a knee problem that is aggravated by an y incline whatsoever), then using the elliptical for 30 min. I am actually really enjoying my cardio however I have a feeling I should be mixing it up a bit. (I have backed off the weights just for a week or two as I am not eating enough protein to support an intense weight training program, so once my diet is adjusted I'll be back in full force.)

I also rollerblade once or twice a week for cardio, which I love.

Anyway any and all suggestions/opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!

So tomorrow is the big day body fat caliper test (first one ever), weigh in, and telling my diet guy to hit the bricks and refer me to one of his colleagues! Wish me luck!
