"Bank error in my favor" - need advice.

theres a great chance that youll be contacted by the bank, though i strongly doubt theyll look at video for a measly 500 bucks unless they have a very good system in place.

the type of error youre talking about it very easy to track down. textbook, really. if theyre 500 out, the first thing theyll do is look for a transaction that involved an amount of money that would have led to that error being made with whatever denomination of cash you have in that country.

i used to date a bank teller. this is common as hell. ive had this same discussion in person a few times (in gossip, ie so and so screwed up, it took us 1 hour to find the mistake, she gave out the wrong value notes bla bla bla). i also doubt the teller will be fired. reprimanded maybe, but not fired. stuff like this happens when youre doing monotonous shitty jobs

sooooo...dont spend it if you cant afford to pay it back when you get the call

She should wait a week then return it. The teller is fired anyway. Make sure she asseses a $33/day fee for giving her too much money.
In reality she only owes the bank $269.

Damn I forgot to include the "overwithdrawl fee" of $300.

Those fuckers owe her $31.

no shit, those fuckers have so many bullshit charges. I'd do the same thing back to them.

A friend of mine went to the bank to complete two transactions:

1) Withdraw $300 from her checking account, and that was successful.

2) After that transaction was complete, she took $500 out of her
wallet (all in 20's), to exchange for (5) "one Hundred" dollars bills.

The bank teller gave her in exchange, $1000 dollars (all in "One Hundred" dollar bills)....$500 too much.

Keep in mind these are two separate transactions.
I know it is a moral issue, but would it be be OK legally for her to keep the money?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Couldn’t sleep so I figured what the hell.

This is not my opinion for the “to keep, or not to keep” question that is none of my business. Ethics regarding this would be a revolving cycle of opinions like religion.

You asked if it is legal and I do not think it was actually answered so here is your answer, NO, but it is a civil issue not criminal. Your friend has acknowledged acceptance by telling you, however, if you want to get away with it check my message to you.

Maybe your friend made a mistake and actually had $1000 worth of 20s. It's so easy to jump to the wrong conclusion in your zeal to give the bank some more money.
