"Bank error in my favor" - need advice.

If you care at all, the teller will most likley lose her job over that much money if you don't return it. she'll def get written up either way but it's not worth costing someone their job IMO.
bank teller jobs are a dime a dozen

Everyone says "do the right thing give the money back"...but we all know if this happend to you you would think about keeping the money.. come on be real!

It has happened to me. Never said I didn't think about keeping it. But the right thing to do IMHO is to return it.

LOL.. yea of course... we all know the "right thing" to do it give it back.

I'm talking all morals aside, can my friend still keep it and not have to give it back? If they do end up calling and say "hi we think we gave you too much money", can't you just DENY DENY DENY? What can the bank do then?

This is all for a good friend of mine. She appreciates the advice. :coffee:

Honestly from what I understand the cameras that focus on the tellers are very clear and it focuses so they can see what is going on with the transactions. I have a friend that is head security for several large banks here and he says they watch this stuff closley. Your friend probably wouldn't get in any serious trouble but would probably have to pay it back.

Thanks for your insight.

He's right.

It's stealing. Doesn't matter if it was a mistake, it's still stealing.
