Besides the insulin spiking, bananas are rarely ripe when you buy them at the store (unless you live in South America or something). Even ones that appear to be ripe have often been chemically treated to accelerate ripening after they have been picked. Either way they don't have the nutrient density they would have by ripening on the plant.More apples are grown locally in the US and have a better chance at nutrient density, especially if shopping at a local farmers market.
