background checks

how long ago did you change your identity?

It's complicated, but around 18 years ago.

if the job you are trying to get - can throw you away cuz of a background check - it's not a job you want. You clearly on an expendable level then.

There are no 'background checks' when it comes to hiring in sports, lawyers, entertainment, music, executives, personal trainers, modelling, photography, surgeons, etc. Anything that requires mad skills, which triumph over a 12 y/o shoplifting or bad credit or unpaid speeding ticket charge.

But for corporate monkey jobs - where you just want to setup another barrier to filter out people - you have to go through that.

I've been thru a couple BG checks. Last one was the army. I don't care. But unless it's triple murder - i know i would've been hired regardless of what was in it. What I brought to the table was paramount over anything else.

well, what's funny is- i'm in marketing. who cares what my background is. The job I currently have- they do checks on some people (we make things for the defense and security market, as well as other high tech items) but there's no reason to check me.

The job I was considering also makes high tech security items (lasers).

I guess that's why. I'm hoping that whatever they find on my background won't really make a difference.

i think u should be fine. we use to run them for pre-employment all the time. we mostly looked for criminal history and verifying addresses. the obvious exceptions are positions involving clearance or law enforcement. as long as your current SS# corresponds to the jobs and addresses u have most recently (5-7 years) i dont thing u have anything to worry about.

good luck :)
