Anyone experienced AC joint separation in their shoulder?

Last week I was benching, not even very heavy weight, but on my last 2-3 reps took the bar all the way down to my chest to get a good stretch. Well ever since, my shoulder has been in pretty bad pain and I can see the clavicle bone slightly sticking up in the mirror. I'm going to see an ortho next week, but did some research online in the meantime and it appears that I have a separated AC joint in my shoulder or even partially torn/strained.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how long it took them to recover? I've read that in most cases therapy or 3-6 weeks rest, ice, slings, stretching, etc will heal it, but the bone will prob always stick up. In severe cases surgery may be required, which I'm really hoping I don't have to do. I'm hoping maybe a cortisone shot and 2-3 weeks rest will get me back to normal.

Please let me know if anyone has gone through this and what steps you took to get back to normal. Thanks....

Took me forever to recover but I was stupid and didnt give it any rest.

Did you even see a Dr and did he have you do any physical therapy or anything? I'm seeing the Ortho this thur and hoping for a cortisone shot,NAND how is forever?

Did not see a dr. took 4 months to get 90% better. but that was with training chest every week still.
