Any ladies here ever get married outside?

I didnt but a suggestion is. Incase of storm, ect... Have a back up place. Just in case. Out door weddings are beautiful ;)

on a side note, take lots of pics:)
I would also make sure u have backup plans on ur bridesmaids and stuff if u have them, when i got married, my flower girl was really late....and we had a back up....but then we hurt her feelings when the original flower girl showed up....shold have just made both of them :)
I didnt really plan my wedding tho. my mother did most everything, if i ever do get remarried and if i dont go to the courthouse, i want to plan it, heck i was 19 and i thought she should anyway lol

Releasing a pair of white doves after the ceremony would be nice. Just a thought. Soklu what happened to your avatar it almost hurts my eyes! lol
Just read Vel's post and realized that I forgot to wish you well!

ME! :)

I got married outside in Vegas at the end of October. If you want to see pics, let me know. Actually, let me go see if I still have pics on Shutterfly ..... :)

I got married outside on 9/22/2001. The ceremony + reception were at the same place, so in case of rain we could hold it inside. The DJ was late, so the CD I made of all my wedding music didn't get played. I was upset. It sprinkled rain for about 2 seconds right as I got ready to walk down the aisle. It was very pretty.

www.theknot.com (I think that's the site) has really GREAT checklists of "what to dos" to prepare for weddings. I used that & it was a tremendous help!!

My pics are still on Shutterfly - if you want to see them - or if anyone else wants to see them, PM me your email and I'll send you the link.

Also, I had NO bridal party. WAY too much of a headache for me. I hate worrying about other people, if they will flake, if they will be bitchy, bossy or otherwise annoying. It was just me and my hubby and about 25 people. And it was PERFECT that way.

hey, I didn't realize you and Lummy got engaged! Congrats hun!

Outdoor weddings are beautiful, but I think I would be worried about the possibility of bad weather. I second Daisyduke's idea about having a backup... although I guess if you're renting a huge tent that could be enough protection against the elements in the event of rain.

Congrats again sweetie

Our wedding and reception were at the same location. The plan had been to get married outside. Less than a week before my wedding it was 80. Our wedding day was 37 degrees and rainy...so we just got married inside. We had everyone sit at their dinner tables and we made an aisle up the middle. It wound up working out awesome and everyone loved it.

We'd taken all of our pictures before the wedding so we went down the aisle after the ceremony and right to our table for toasts. We also wound up saving $500 because we got to cancel the outdoor chairs.

As long as you realize that nothing is every "perfect" and can go with the flow, you can have an amazing day nomatter what. A wedding isn't a wedding without a few glitches. :)

My brother's wedding was outside, he had a huge tent and though it rained the morning of, by noon it was sunny & beautiful.

Only thing was our heels got stuck in the lawn the whole way down the aisle.. lol.

Actually that massive blackout happened 2 days before their wedding, no centerpieces, no garter, and their power only came on at 6 pm the night before the wedding, HI, how's your stress level? :worried:

But, it all turned out beautifully in the end. Don't put the linens on the tables the night before, they get damp. :rose: Also, congrats.

Smurf, my brother got married outside. He built this really pretty wooden dias to mimic the pulpit (stage) of a church.

Since you guys strictly speaking arent having an outdoor wedding I cant see you having to foresee any of the potential inconvienences (disasters!) of being in the elements. Only two things that I can thing of that would be specific to your setting: temperture, but September in your part of the country should be nice (My brother's was in June and I was sweating my ass off), and the incidence of a storm. You might consult a history of September weather for your state on that Information Superhighway thing the computer people talk about.

Only other thing, dont worry about something going wrong, because it will. I've been in 12 weddings, something always goes wrong, and that's OK. :):)

One thing you might need to watch out for would be bees/hornets/wasps/yellow jackets (depending on where you live). My uncle had his first wedding outside and one of the bride's maids was stung in the back during the ceremony. Keeping the food covered and away from the ceremony tent is an easy way of minimizing that problem though. Congrats and good luck chica!!! :rose:

thanks to everyone. my brother too had his entire wedding outdoors (reception under a tent). his was june 30th and it was approx 99 degrees out. I was burning the hell up in that black gown (sleeveless AKA gunshow). I already consulted the internets regarding the weather in september in my area. Seems like a good time. Avg temp is like 64 degrees for the month. Rain? ah who knows. Im having a tent and only the ceremony will be outdoors. If people's feet get wet, then so be it!

Congrats!

i did a tent wedding.

I would still have another backup.

It rained the day before, and the ground was slooshy, and the tent collapsed under the weight of the rain.

at least get a floor so your heels of you and your guests dont sink in the ground.

it was a beautiful day, but the stress of it..... PLUS there is way more decorating w/ a tent. did you get it already reserved?
