Whew...had a good one. Started out in the gym with a few new ideas. I had heard that doing good mornings from a bar height that was the same as your shoulder height when you deadlift...is a very good practice. There should be a good carry over as far as strength building...who knows...just a thought.
Bottom Position Good Mornings (conventional narrow stance)
several warm-ups
205 x 3
275 x 3
325 x 3
375 x 3 PR with this stance
High Bar Squats (full)
227 x 10
Still Legged Deadlifts
205 x 3
275 x 3
325 x 3
Chin Holds 2" bar for time
BW x 60 sec
BW x 40 sec
BW x 40 sec (reverse grip)
Farmers Walk (new implement made by my buddy Bover)
80's x 150 ft
130 x 150 ft
130 x 100ft with 4 turns
Tire Flip (working on technique this week)
several warm up singles
3 light and easy flips
several partials with the heavy tire
1 rep with the heavy tire
Log Press
8 sets of 3 reps, increasing weight, short rest, full clean and press on first 4 sets only
140, 151, 162, 173, 184, 190, 201, 212 (my log feels about 20lbs heavier at least than most logs)
Yoke Walk
345 x 150 feet (14.7 sec)
345 x 175 feet with one turn
Hussefeld Stones
150 x 100ft with one turn
155 x 300ft with one turn
Light Ab pull downs
Saxon Side Bends
11's x 6 reps per side
Well...feeling pretty tired from the day...we decided to superset this workout with some fork lifting at Ryans. We had to do several breathing reps on that third steak, the buffet, and the cake/pie bar...whew...it was tough. We decided to come home and get some rest and relaxation this evening...a bit of studying, and a very long night of sleep.
For next week...we plan on doing some more grip and farmers walk work, heavy tire work, increasing the weight on the yoke walk, and doing a hussefeld stone relay. We hope to have something left for some atlas stone work too. Going to make the transition from speed/technique/light training to a much heavier event day as STL approaches.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
