So did you buy any? If so how did it taste

The texture, once you grill it up is similar to beef jerky. It's very chewy too.

Does that really make sense?

perhaps food quanitities are calculated a different way than standard measurements but:

2oz(1lb/16oz)(454g/1lb) = 56.75grams

while 65g protein + 7g Fat = 72 grams

2 ounces of squid is 56.75 grams yet contains 65grams of protein and 7 grams of fat? That doesnt add up

That's exactly how the label reads, which was why I was so amazed at the nutritional content. Food quantities have to be calculated by the American standard or it can't be sold in stores per the FDA.

I'm not really one for protein skakes. I think most of the protein in shakes doesn't get metabolized anyway. I came across this Korean gocery store that sells this dried squid. It's huge with pinacles. You have to grill it on a BBQ or something. You can't eat it raw or you'll get sick. It's not like the squid sashimi you get a sushi bar.

Anyway, 2oz of this particular dried squid yield 65g of protein, 0 carbs and 7g of fat. That's an incredible nutritional breakdown. I was so amazed I thought I'd share with you gentlemen.

Not that I doubt that you were supplied this information, but it sounds fishy - here's why. There are only 57 grams in 2oz... so how can there be 72g of macro nutrients in only 57g of substance?

We need to verify these amounts somewhere...

Wow...I cant believe it took THIS long for someone to figure this one out...:D

It is physically impossible to get 65 grams of protein from ~56 grams of food...:o

Nutritional Facts:

Serving size 2oz(57g)
Serving per Container 9

Amount per serving
Calaries 330 Calories from Fat 60
%Daily Value*

Total Fat 7g
Saturated Fat 2g
Cholesterol 100mg
Sodium 300mg
Total Carb 0g
Diertary Fiber 0g
Sugars 0g
Protein 65g???? - that's what it says!

65g Protein x 4 calories/gram = 260calories
7g Fat x 9 calories/gram = 63calories

total = 323calories

The calories add up according to the nutrition label but it still doesnt add up per masses.

Food standards and nutrition labels are loose - I would think this is a good example. The only way to exactly tell the caloric makeup of something is to use a bomb-calorimeter where they measure the quantity of heat put out by a portion of food when it is burned.

"Scientists have found that the proteins contained in squid meat are the same kinds of proteins found in fish meat, and are equal in nutritional value. Squid also contains all eight essential amino acids in nearly proportioned quantities. However, the protein and water in squid can change. Normally, the water content of squid is between 77-80 percent of the body weight, and the protein content between 17-20 percent. But if we catch squid in summer, the squid contains more water and less protein than in autumn."
