Amazing High Protein discovery

Does that really make sense?

perhaps food quanitities are calculated a different way than standard measurements but:

2oz(1lb/16oz)(454g/1lb) = 56.75grams

while 65g protein + 7g Fat = 72 grams

2 ounces of squid is 56.75 grams yet contains 65grams of protein and 7 grams of fat? That doesnt add up

I'm not really one for protein skakes. I think most of the protein in shakes doesn't get metabolized anyway. I came across this Korean gocery store that sells this dried squid. It's huge with pinacles. You have to grill it on a BBQ or something. You can't eat it raw or you'll get sick. It's not like the squid sashimi you get a sushi bar.

Anyway, 2oz of this particular dried squid yield 65g of protein, 0 carbs and 7g of fat. That's an incredible nutritional breakdown. I was so amazed I thought I'd share with you gentlemen.

Interesting! Bugs are also full of protein but i'll been damned if you're gonna catch me out in the yard eating them.

Wow...I cant believe it took THIS long for someone to figure this one out...:D

It is physically impossible to get 65 grams of protein from ~56 grams of food...:o

Goddam korean food.

You know they like boiled cat juice for arthritis? Just throw the cats in boiling water. And yeah, dogs. tastier if beaten to death. Apparently, the fear makes the meat softer.

But if it makes you feel like a man...

yo bros my brothers girl is japanese and they go shopping in the japanese food store they had squid that was sort of like squid jerkry it was dryed out and edible right out of the bag i do not remember the nutritional stats but it was high in protein low in fat and carbs but it probably had a good amount of sodium because they tasted salty the stuff wasnt that bad but i did have a fishy taste and was very chewy but somehow enjoyable if yopu ever have a chance to check out a japanese food store you shaould the have lots of heakthy products and alot of them have english on them

Grasshoppers are supposedly LOADED with protien! If I had to eat bugs ... they would be my first choice. I would hope that they were chocolate covered though.

Hey JA, why dont you drink shakes? Or why dont you think that they get metabolized? Whey protien isolate is the easiest absorbed protien source you can get, and has the highest BV of any food source known to man. See below.

_______________________________

The Biological Value (BV) is a scale of measurement used to determine what percentage of a given nutrient source is utilized by the body. The scale is most frequently applied to protein sources, particularly whey protein. Biological Value is derived from providing a measure intake of protein, then determining the nitrogen uptake versus nitrogen excretion. The theoretical highest BV of any food source is 100%. In short - BV refers to how well and how quickly your body can actually use the protein you consume.

Below is a list of various sources of protein and their respective ratings.

Protein Ratings FOOD PROTEIN RATING
Eggs (whole) 100
Eggs (whites) 88
Chicken / Turkey 79
Fish 70
Lean Beef 69
Cow's Milk 60
Unpolished Rice 59
Brown Rice 57
White Rice 56
Peanuts 55
Peas 55
Whole Wheat 49
Soy beans 47
Whole-grain Wheat 44
Peanuts 43
Corn 36
Dry Beans 34
White Potato 34

As far as sources of protein created in the lab are concerned, here is a short list of some protein sources you can find in supplements common today. See how they compare to the natural sources listed above:

Protein Ratings PROTEIN SUPPLEMENT PROTEIN RATING
Whey Protein Isolate 159
Whey Protein Concentrate 104

are you talking about the dried prepackaged stuff? It's really thinly sliced and kind of like strips...i used to eat those as a kid.

sounds really interesting though.

2 oz's???? thats alot of fuckin protein

Bro, that's exactly what I'm talking about! Real thin long slices dried out and pre-packaged.

Wow! I wonder what kind of prices we are talkin per pound/ounce/whatever? Probably quite pricey. I'll stick with Venison, as my alternative high-protein source.

You'd be amazed how cheap this stuff is. I bought several pounds of it for $5. Remember, I bought it in a Korean grocery store.
