Many apologies for the hijack.
I was working as a bouncer at a punk rock club. A BMA (none punk) with crack pipe burns on his lower lip got into a dispute with the bartender over $20 and one of our slot machines. The bartender returned the money and 86'd him. BMA (Black Male Adult) didn't want to leave so my partner and I escorted him off premises. We didn't rough him up - we're not that type of club. 15 minutes later he comes back and tries to walk through the door, I step in front of him and words are exchanged. He gets in my face, I knock him back (but not out - my huge mistake), he comes up with a gun and shoots it nigga style at a distance of 6 feet. I step behind the brick door frame and wait, and he takes off. I felt the hit, but it didn't hurt much, and untill I saw blood about a minute after getting shot I was still depating whether I should make a dash for my car and chase him down. I had 2 guns in my vehicle just 10 yards away, but it could have been 10 miles for all the good it did. Once I saw I was bleeding I asked the bartender to call 911. Because I was outside a noisy bar, few heard the gunshot, and nobody panicked untill they saw my blood. Several witness smoking dope in the parking lot got a good side view look at the gun. At first I thought it was a .38 special snub nosed because it looked and sounded like the one I have - except it was stainless steel. I sent pictures to my training partners father who has a Charter Arms Stainless Bulldog .44 special snubby and I'm now convinced that's what bite me. The doctors left the bullet in me saying it would cause more damage to remove it so I'm not likely to now for sure, but I now have a .44 special lead HP round (200 grains) that fit into the hole like a piece of a puzzle.
The BMA is still at large. They know where he was living, but has fled. They know who helped him flee, and are hoping to follow her to get to him. If that fails, they'll eventually arrest her for aiding and abetting a fugitive. I'm not to concerned with it though. I live by the sword, and will die by the sword.
I work as an unarmed bouncer at the bar, but I have all the paperwork to legally carry concealed, so I'll be exercising that right from now on. Having a gun on hand wouldn't have stopped the bullet, but would have stopped the escape. I have body armor that I wasn't wearing, but it doesn't come up high enough to stop shoulder shots anyhow. I've ordered a flak vest that covers the neck and shoulders, but with summer coming on I can't see myself wearing it often.
