Well they are basically used as a substitute for simple sugars.
Also called as polyols. They are naturally occurring compounds in variety of plant sources
I think they are good alternative for typical sugar and for some people might even provide some benefit as far as weight loss goes.
But like with everything else moderation is the key.
Wouldn’t say that at all your getting a massive insulin spike and blood sugar spike from honey. A lot of things that do that actually come from the earth like fruit. These things are not meant to be consumed regularly. Think how hard your pancreas is working all day. Sugar alcohols aren’t bad at all some are worse than others of course and gives an insulin response but a lot don’t just do the research
Are they fine in moderation? Yes. I use sugar free syrup for my protein pancakes which contains alcohol sugars but that's my only source of it, and only on weekends
