HI...quick question, when you are doing the treadmill at 10.0 incline @ 4.0mph , are you walking or jogging? I know its relatively a slow speed but with the incline Im not sure how it works. I like how you mix up the cardio, its so boring for me. The 10.0 incline seems like it would be fun....
 
wouldn't that be walking uphill? Measure your effort by your heart rate: 220 minus your age, is your MAX. Your target hr could be 50%-85% of your MAX, this is all dependant upon your current level of cardiorespiratory fitness. So beginner, 50-60% intrmed. 65-75% adv. 75-85%. or do the talk test.
HIIT is good for the can't talk test.... can't talk at all?, you're good! LOL

I am walking at a pretty fast pace w/the incline of 10.0. Thanks! I feel like I have to mix things up, or like you said I will get bored. It is fun, I really enjoy the 10.0 incline I can really feel all the muscles in my legs are getting a workout. LMK what you think of it, if you try the incline. :)

yes, it is. I just recently figured out my max hr, thanks for the insight! :D I'm definately liking the HIIT cardio. although I dont have anyone to talk with to do the test I'd imagine i'm doing it right since I can't imagine holding a conversation while doing this. HA HA HA ;)

On my Tanita scale at home which gives bf%, I am always somewhere in the 28-30% bodyfat range in the mornings. According to callipers, I'm in the 15-16% range. So there is a BIG difference in accuracy. I read the scales only send a current to below your waist. So if like me and you carry all your fat in your lower body, then your reading will be very skewed.

Thanks for the info, I thought they sent a current through whole body, but I can understand how it wouldn't, now. Yes, unfortunately most of my bf is in my thighs and butt :worried: Hopefully all this working out and clean dieting will change that soon, though. I can see a little difference, now, but I anxious to see what the difference will be a few months from now, too.

No, I haven't yet.......we've had some extra expenses lately. Hopefully by next week I'll either have bought some callipers or will make an appnt to go to ISU and have them check it for me w/the bod pod. I'll update my stats in my jurnal as soon as I get it checked, though. ;) The goals are looking pretty good, can't wait to get into the gym in the morning, 5:30am!

I don't know why I never thought that they'd do the callipers at the gym, duh! So, I woke up this morning feeling all bloated and fat, but I decided to go workout and get weighed and bf% measured. They used both the callipers and the scale w/the bf% measurement on it as well...............

20 minutes on the elliptical at cross training level #3
10 minutes HIIT on the treadmill 5.6 & 5.0mph

My scale is off at home. I'm not 133 like I'd previously posted. Freaked out a little b/c I've gained a few lbs; I'm at 137 now. I'm going to post the old stats first, then the new stats.......last time I got bf% measured w/callipers was:

I wouldn't pay attention to the scale BF measurement. I had similar results as you with my trainer taking my bodyfat masurements. At the time my electronic said 19%, my trainer got like 28%. There are a lot of variables though... I mean water is a big issue with those results, skin thickness can mess with the numbers, so who knows. Just keep on moving :)

I concur with Trelin. The BF Tanita scale in my bathroom has me anywhere from 28-30% in the morning. According to the calliper measurement, I'm at 15-16%. HUGE difference....
 
Diet has been off the past 2 days, no appetite what-so-ever, practically have to force myself to eat anything! Not to mention that I've had insomnia for the past 2 days as well. I don't know what is going on.......ug, but I feel like garbage, I have no clue why I haven't been able to sleep. No gym, but did walk 3 miles all around the past 2 days. Anyone know of anything that'll help w/insomnia?!?

I wonder why you don't have an appetite and can't sleep...have you been stressed or nervous about something?

Have you ever tried ZMA? It is an anabolic mineral formula. It contains Zinc, Magnesium and vitamin B-6. Taken before bedtime, it promotes deeper, more restful sleep. My husband and I have come to LOVE it, especially when we work so much and need to wind down quickly at night in order to get enough rest! :qt:

When I was younger, my parents were involved in Shaklee. I swear I took about 20 vitamins 2x a day!!! (shhh, don't tell but 1/2 the time I flushed them down the toilet - lol) Anyway, my dad use to have a problem sleeping and he would always take a couple calcium magnesium & zinc to help him.

Hope you get some good rest soon!
 
Also, not that this is exactly the "healthiest" way but try Simply Sleep. It's Tylenol PM without the Tylenol. I've had to rely on those blue pills a bit this week....but I only take one, not two. You can be a bit dozy in the mornings otherwise.
 
Ahh, thanks for the advice ladies. I don't think I've been nervous or worried about anything lately. It's so weird. Even right now, as I am typing this I'm about to fal face first into the computer, LOL & I can't stop yawning. I have gotten some sleep lately but not great sleep. I do have an appointment with an allergist in a few days and hopefully I'll figure out that problem, get some allergy shots and be able to breathe through my nose and stop sneezing and having itcy water eyes. Ug! Oh, well, enough of my rant........

Thanks SG! I am thrilled about it. We have weekly weigh-ins on monday at the gym, no change as of this week. They'll only measure the bf and take measurements on the 4th, 6th & 8th weeks if I remember right. So a few more weeks and hopefully I'll see another difference.

I've been mia again for the past 3 days, but i've kept up w/the diet (except the slice of cheesecake last night.) The excercise has been lacking due to what I though were my allergy problems.....come to find out yesterday when I went to the allergist and got pricked 46 times on my back that I'm NOT allergic to ANYTHING!! WTF, how is it possible? Well it is, and they even have a name for it. Non-allergic rhinitis, uuugh I can't beleive that. So the doc gave me some nasonex (nose spray), it took a while before it "kicked in" and cleared my nose yesterday. Hopefully it will work w/in the next week. If not, I have to go back and have x-rays taken and talk about surgery, but at this point in time I don't want to think about that. My father-in-law had it done and said it's extremely painful! I'm just praying this nasal spray works. That's all my drama for the day.....LOL.

That sucks that you had to go in and get pricked in the back 46 time, but on the bright side it is great that you aren't allergic to anything (not many people can say that!!). ;) Let's just hope that the spray clears your congestion up. I know you don't want to think about it, but what all does the surgery involve if you don't mind me asking. :)

Well, I've only done a little research so far, but basically they have to clear the sinus cavity out and maybe even make it larger. I have read some of the things that can go wrong and in my opinion they :worried: outweigh the good. I'm not sure, so far the nasal spray isn't working very well, I guess I just have to wait and see what the doc says. I'll probably update anything about in in my journal in here in case anybody cares to know.

Staterd feeling pretty sh!**y around lunchtime, I feel like I'm "falling apart!" Headache turned into a migrane and by the time hubby got home (around 530pm) I felt like I was getting the flu, went straight to bed and woke up around 830pm.

6-8 cut carrot sticks (approx 1 lg carrot)

Calories are looking much better, and congrats on the 2lbs loss - keep plugging away!! You are doing great!

Try and get those carbs up just a little bit so that your fat isn't such a high percentage of your daily intake!! (remember that complex carbs are not your enemy, when eaten in moderation) :chomp:

It was just strange that BMS (my step-son) got sick last night, my ex sent me a msg yesterday morning and told me that my son (Drew) was sick the night before, too, the hardest past was that he was at his dad's and I couldn't hold him or be there for him. :worried:

Speedy recovery to everyone that has whatever it is that's going around again! ;)

Up all night Monday, sick! But fortunately not as sick as my hubby........I feel so bad for him.

Yesterday (Tuesday) sick, sick, sick!! Nothing but chicken noodle soup, water & gatorade for me all day. Bleh! This sucks!!

Today-massive migrane but going to try to get some stuff done around the house since we all did nothing but lay around yesterday. I'll be back this evening to post my diet for the day & if I'd gotten anything accomplished for the day.

Aaah, thanks! Yes, we are feeling better, my son & step-son are better now....but now the girls are getting over being sick. I even cleaned and sprayed everything w/lysol, but I guess I wasn't quick enough. Oh, well....nothing I can really do about it now.

I have also taken the advice of some of the wonderful ladies on here and up'd (or I am trying to) my calories to about 1,600. I got the diet out of my Self Magazine this month.....I may "tweak" it a little, but we'll see. Todays "diet" was the following:

Glad to hear it! Dress shopping. It was the funniest thing I was shopping for summer tank tops, and the girl comes up and asks me if I want to try some jeans on. I started laughing um.... NO!

Hey Afgrl, I just wanted to stop in and see what was going on. I am so glad to hear that you are feeling much better now! PLUS, you have decided to try and up your calories a bit, that is great! YEA!!! Best of luck with your court date and your sisters wedding, I am sure both of them are a little stressful on you right now! Hang in there, you are looking good.

1/2c lowfat plain yogurt
1c frozen, unsweetened mixed berries
1 tsp honey.....yummy smoothie.
50cals of whole grain wheat crackers
20oz water

Meal 2-1030am
8oz diet v8 Splash
3c lf popcorn

Meal 3-1230pm
4c mixed greens w/4oz bonless skinless chicken breast
1 slice ww bread w/pat of butter
2 tbs cw ranch
20oz water
protein shake

Meal 4-330pm
protein sahke
20oz water

Meal 5-630pm
4oz shrimp sauteed in 1tsp olive oil & soy sauce
1c yellow squash & 1c zuchinni squash cooked in 1 tsp olive oil
1c cooked brown rice
1 cinnamon roll, no icing
20oz water

TOTALS:1,416cals; Fat-34g (23%); Carbs-180g (46%); Protein-105g (31g)....Well, I've figured out w/this diet I'm following that my Carbs are a little high and my protien is lacking....I'll "tweak" it a little today, and see if that works to fix the macros. Oh and I couldn't find V8 drinks in FitDay so I had to add a few different drinks to try to make it as close to V8 as possible. :rolleyes:
 
Calories are looking MUCH better!!! I little more protein and a little less carbs wouldn't hurt, but keep those calories there!! ;) How are you feeling with more calories???

Thanks IP. I'm feeling a little better w/more cals, but sometimes I have a hard time eating it all, I feel like if I eat anymore I'm going to "pop!" I am a little nervous thinking that it'll cause me to gain though.

Your stomach will get use to that and you won't have any problems! lol

I gotta' start cutting next week and I'm so use to EATING that I don't know how I'm gonna' do it! I just want to keep EATING!!!! lol

Your body will adjust. I know when I started eating like I do I would be like oh man and barely could finish most of my meals. Now I get shakey and *itchy if I don't eat or I'm late on a meal. :chomp:

I totally felt this way when I started the Shadow plan last year and then when I saw the weight coming off I was like Huh??? I mean I felt full and had that "Gosh I must have added a few pounds feeling"... Give it a few weeks and just monitor your results!
 
^^ Ladies go it covered. :D Your body will adjust ... the weight (fat) will come off if you are feeding it properly, training, being honest with your portions/cheats and of course, have no medical issues hindering you progress.

Keep at it A! I understand the cause for celebration but I see that red wine, and last 2 nights of cake :velvett:

I know, the wine & cake weren't the best choices. I had to snap myself into check about it too. Thanks everyone for helping me gain the confidence I lack by checking in and cracking the 'ol whip out. HA HA HA. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress, too.

also added 8 pickle chips & 2 boiled eggs to the tuna mix

330pm-protein
16oz water

700pm-1c of pasta (I got this recipe from Rachel Ray on Oprah yesterday.....It's called "You Won't Be Single for Long Vodka Cream Pasta") It was delicious!!
1 slice garlic bread
protein shake
