Abs while bulkin?

DDizzy

New member
i was wondering if i should do my ab workout while iam bulkin ive been doin abs for awhile now and dunno if its necessary....all help appreciated

If you wish to develop your abs then 'YES'.
The abdominal muscles are, afterall, muscles. A well developed core will also translate to the possibility of better development in other muscle groups so don't neglect this area. Just don't expect your abs to show through while you are bulking.

ya thats why i asked cuz i do wanna get abs jus not right now ive been threw the cuttin stage and got them to show

i will continue to do some abs workout but i aint concerned whether they show or not...atleast not at this point in time

As kian said. Its very important to have a solid core. Its the central part of your body and you want to have strong solid abdominal muscles to compliment the rest. To me its almost as bad as not doing legs and just doing upper body. But to answer the question yes focus on your abs during bulking.

While it's always nice to have abs, abs while bulking aren't really viable. Working them taxes your central nervous system in such a way that you won't be able to put on as much mass as you would be had you not trained them.

On the other hand, i know i would rather take a week or two extra to achieve my goals and still train my abs hard once a week, as when you eventually begin your cutting phase, they'll be that little bit bigger and better developed thanks to your hard work. Don't forget lower back exercises too! :)

Could you explain the theory behind that statement which would make it true in comparison to training other muscle groups whilst you were bulking.

I've read it in a few journals i respect. Obviously you're not going to take my word for it - i'll hunt down the sources and get back to you, but i've read it a fair few times.

Are you saying working abs is more taxing on the CNS than working any other muscle group, or just pointing out the fact that it's taxing, iike working any other muscle?

i always work my abs, cutting or bulking. Why only work them when you cut? It's not like you'll acheive spot reduction that way. Work them while you're anabolic so they'll grow, and they'll show faster when you cut. Not to mention your physique will be more balanced; I don't see any reason to leave any muscle group lagging.
