Ab ripper x

Anyone ever tried this from P90X?

Its the only thing i use from that thing, but iv been using abb ripper x for a couple weeks now, Its a great workout and you see results fast. Thats def the hardest workout iv tried.

Its intense haha.

lmao 4 guys at my gym were doing that a while back. I walk in and they are all in a corner of the gym with their shirts off going away at it, and they had it playing on a portable dvd player, busting out all the stuff. I'm sorry but it was the gayest shit I have ever seen, they were right next to each other practically dripping sweat on each other. Not saying P90x is gay, just the way they did it lol!

Yeah thats odd. But this shit is legit. Damn i wanna cry half way through it. IT BURNS! Like nothing iv ever tried.

So you're gauging your opinion on whether a workout is effective for hypertrophy or not by how much it hurts you?

So by this reasoning if I was to do 500 arm curls with really light weight until it 'burns' so badly that I 'wanna cry half way through it', then this would also be 'legit' and I will have bigger biceps in no time?

okay, i understand your point, but i have pictures that prove that it works. If you want to be a dick head ill post them up. But i understand where your comming from.

How often do you do this routine? Do you not feel your abs get enough stimulation from squatting/deadlifting/OH pressing/chin ups, etc? And during the couple of weeks you've been using this routine, have you also been dropping body fat? Do you think this is a coincidence?

Think about it: you say the routine is the hardest, most intense training you've ever done. So I PRESUME this means doing the routine will get your heart rate up and burn a lot of calories, right? So, essentially you've been doing a form high intensity cardio for the last couple of weeks, so how do you know you haven't just lost fat thus making your abs more visible? And if this is the case, how then is the Ab ripper X thing any different to any other type of fat loss regime? Because obviously you can't spot reduce fat around your abdomen, which I'm sure you know.

Yay i knew that, im not going to argue with you, i am only 16 and prob have little knowledge compared to yours, but i just felt like this was a good exercise that i wanted to share.

Edit and i doo this routine every
Monday Wednesday and Friday

Didn't mean to come off as a dick head man, believe me my knowledge isn't all that amazing but I just think you have to take a lot of these programs with a grain of salt. A six pack is just a combination of two things: low body fat and somewhat hypertrophied abs. Ab hypertrophy is no different to hypertrophy of any other muscle, because your abdomen is just a muscle like any other. Low body fat comes from diet and cardio. I just don't see how any of these fancy ab 'toning' programs can possibly make any difference to that basic equation! Especially if they have you doing millions and millions of reps for your abs, it just seems counterintuitive because you wouldn't do that with any other muscle.

And most guys I know who have impressive abs don't train their abs in isolation at all, they are just strong on the big lifts!

hmmm you bring up a good point. But some people dont have a natural ab hypertrophie so then could these "toning" programs be effective?

Well anybody that does weights is likely to be hitting their abs plenty, as long as they're doing the bread and butter exercises like squatting, deadlifting, and so on.

I don't think anybody has naturally hypertrophied abs, your ab muscles get built up through resistance like any other muscle!
