6'4" and a 180 pounds for Life??? Gaining Weight Impossible!!

This could just be me but i don't see a great deal of calories in there. Before I started gaining weight I went upto 6000 calories mainly through eating pasta (in huge quantities) and drinking a gallon of whole milk a day. I kept my protein at 300g / day.

As Cornholio said- if you aren't gaining weight you aren't eating enough.

Lose the salad and powders and get some real food in ya. Also, add up your calorie intake and let us know how many you do a day.

Thanks for all your Responses:p

Here is one example of what I was doing.
8:00
3 eggs, 5 strip Bacon, 2 Pieces Wheat Toast, Glass of OJ

10:00
Myoplex Meal Replacement

12:00
Steak sandwich, Baked Potato, Fruit Salad

2:00
Meal Replacement

5:00
Mcdonalds Double 1/4 Pounder with Cheese, Chef Salad, Water

7:00
Weight Gaining Shake

9:00
2 Turkey Sandwiches on Wheat, Potato Salad, Apple.

Would it be better to eat more towards the night? Since your body doesnt digest the food as fast as it does during the day? I am up till 12 everyday anyways, so it wouldnt matter to me.

I agree with the above, I don't see the calories either. I used to be way skinnier than you at the same height, so I know where you're at. The advice your getting is good, eat more. Get some decent carbs into ya. Brown rice, pasta and sweet potatoes. Lose the sandwiches and the salads and the macdonalds; bread sucks, lettuce has no calories. I used to mix a big pot of brown rice and tins of tuna or salmon with vegetables, soy sauce and spices and divide it up for the week. I fucking hate tuna now but I did put on 30lbs in a year while losing a couple of inches off the waist.

eat, son, eat! after those shakes, like, 30-60 min, eat a HIGH proteinous (if thats a word) meal. try to get like 6 meals a day. up your carbs. up the protein.

goddamn, if id only do this myself. the past week or two i havent been eating as much as i should. luckily, i havent lost any weight. school fucking sucks man. too much work right now to eat as much as i would like ... oh well. soon as i have the time, im going to eat like ... canada, or something.

Its all about tupperware bro. I had a huge backpack with more food in plastic tubs than books. The tuna with peas didn't go over too good though.

My workout really contains
Chest: 3 excercises (3 sets of highest weight possible, between 6-8 reps)
ditto with Tri's and Bi's

Monday: Chest, Tris and Shoulder
Tuesday:OFF
Wed:Biceps, Back
Thursday:OFF
Friday:Repeat
Legs are worked too.

So your saying those Myoplexs are Garbage?
Does anybody have a Diet Schedule layed out on the Internet, that wants to gain as much as me?

Thanks for the Replys again, as you can see Im a Stupid Newbie:bawling:

JucinGTA - I've been in a very similar situation as yours. I was 6'4 180 in January, now i'm 6'4 190 in May. I know that's nothing too spectacular, but it's something I'm proud of after years of being the skinniest person I know. Here's what I've learned over the past 4 months. Eating a ton of food does nothing without the intense workout to go along with it. It looks like you've been focusing plenty on the food. I'd take the advice of the other guys here (about killing salads and taking in more protein), but I'd also say that you should match (and probably exceed) your workout research efforts with your food research efforts. Set lifting goals for yourself and make sure you're mentally in to every workout. If you are able to increase your bench by 30 lbs (which won't take too long at your level), then it's not possible that you didn't gain a few quality pounds in the process.

I'd also say that attempting to eat every hour or two is a little rediculous. I know many people are into that, but I think that if you have that much free time to think about weight gaining, then try spending a good portion of that free time thinking about what you're going to do the next time you hit the gym instead.

Just make sure you're getting a few thousand calories per day (which you are) and that you're safely reaching new lifting goals. If you do this then you're gonna gain some pounds, no mystery to it, just be patient.

Bump on mph,

You need to start focussing on your workouts.

Use Friday as your leg day, that way you'll be training each bodypart once a week. You can't just say, 'oh, legs are worked too. You can't neglect your lower body.

It sounds to me like you're expecting too much from too little. You need to seriously ask yourself whether you have really applied yourself and whether the gains you have made are realistic for the work you have put in thus far. Sorry to be blunt, but someone has to be.

Are you squatting, deadlifting, dipping etc. Give us some idea of the exercises you're doing. If your using cables and machines, forget it.

Not gaining weight = not eating enough.

Period.

this is so fucking true.

i used to bitch and moan about being a hard gainer. then i learned that my diet, although i thought was awsome, sucked. i almost doubled my calories and protein and put on 10 pounds in a month.
