I have been doing the basic 5x5 for a little over a year. I always take 1-2 weeksceo said:how long have you been doing it? I assume you're doing the basic 5x5 (linear I think it's called)? Have you stopped adding weight to the bar when you're supposed to? If so, have you taken any time off (a week or two) or de-loaded at all?

off then start over. Is it better that I de-load? Gains are almost nothing now even after a few weeks of and back on again.
djeclipse said:If that is the case, and you're stalling even after taking some rest and/ or deload, you may have to use the dual factor "Advanced" 5 x 5 to make gains.
It's on the madcow 5 x 5 website under advanced.
I eat really good. 1.5 grams protein for every bl of lean body mass. Most of my meals are low in fat other then fats from meat, fish, peanut butter, and flax when I can.Azinine said:I'm a n00b but, how are you eating? Perhaps you should consume more calories...

I keep carbs clean and around mid range. Oatmeal, potatoes, yams, some pasta, and veggies. I do get sick of eating the same stuff all the time,so I will cheat now and again.
Most of the time my cals are dead set around 2700 every day. I am around 230lbs right now so I would think thats enough cals right?
djeclipse said:It really depends on what activities you do throughout the day. How many calories you're burning.
But on a side note 1.5g/bw is too much protein if you ask me. Your body can't process that much protein so the rest is just a waste.
ceo said:lol...know what made me start growing again? 2+ grams per pound of bodyweight (not LBM) and moderate good fats, with relatively low carbs.
Wulfgar consumes up to 3 grams per pound of bodyweight (800 grams at 270 lbs.) at times. He'll eat about 60 grams every hour.
1.5 grams /lb is too much if you're a typical american couch potato who never sees the inside of a gym and sits behind a desk all day.
How many PL'ers and BB'ers do you know - who ACTUALLY LOOK like PL'ers and BB'ers - who eat like normal people and still look like BB'ers and PL'ers?
Would be nice though huh? To be 250 lbs. at 12% or less bodyfat and eat the normal 2000-2500 calorie diet as every other 160 lb. guy out there. That'd save me a ton of money on food!!!
djeclipse said:So the only thing you changed was more protein? Interesting.
djeclipse said:Thanks for the reply.
Diet is something I have to really work on.
