5 3 1 routine help???

Big A

New member
Im going to be starting this routine today, i dont have the E-book though, and i had a few questions. Do i just follow the routine exactly as posted on t-nation on Jim Wendler?? T NATION | How to Build Pure Strength

And for assistance excercises am i allowed to choose them or i must do the exact ones he put in the routine?? Is there another place i can read up on this? Thanks bros.

and even in the first week when the weight isnt super heavy for the main lift i need to be doing 3-5 minute rest but i can take less rest on assistance work??

okay so pretty much the first week i do 3 sets of 5, adding weight on each time, second week 3 sets of 3 and 3rd week 5,3,1 and then deload week. I can choose my assistance work and i dont want to train more than 2 days in a row. Is it okay to do an hour of cardio on off days?? Im playing rugby in the fall and i need to be fit. And i assume i can do sumo Dls instead of conventional??

My opinions:
1. Stick to the routine as closely as possible. Why wouldn't you?

2. Shorter rest on assistance should be fine.

3. Why do sumo DLs instead of conventional? I'm not knocking the thought of it - just trying to understand. There's not much better than a conventional DL IMO...

yeah i decided to do conventional, i bought the ebook, today was my first day. Im following the boring but big principles. So i can do the conditioning any days i want?? Will this affect gains? I was gonna run hills on my off days. Is the skipping rope thing what i should be doing before workouts or is that seperate only if im following north of vag??

also, can i train more than 4 times a week, like can i do two on one off, or do i have to take a few days off in a row so its only ever 2 days in a row max???

can i train more than 4 times a week, i have way to much energy, and even with the conditioning i feel i need to do something else,
