So I've been debating putting this update in cause it's embaressing, but whatever maybe this can help out other ladies either now or down the road.

I know I've mentionned that I went for a colonic like 2 weeks ago, and I felt amazing afterwards but that only lasted about 5 days, then my problems returned. I didn't know what to do, so I stopped my diet for a few days and ate only fruits, veggies and protein from shakes, but not as much protein and I normally would consume, to give my disgestive tract a break, yes I'm 6 and 1/2 weeks out from the show, that this is really a big no-no, but I honestly can not take it anymore.

So I went to see a naturopath on Wed, 1 of the best in the this city. And she was like like whoa your intensines are very bloated and irriated, and it's causing lots of extra work on your liver, kidneys, and skin, which is true from the other symptoms that I have, my skin right now is beyond terrible. Anyway she has me making a few adjustments to my diet, and at this point is fine with me as long as I feel better. I will go see her again next week, and have a colonic, she wanted to wait abit to do this cause she wants my body to try and get rid of stuff on it's own. She ade so much sense, and now I know I'm not going crazy.

So yesterday I had to go for my knee appointment, and the therapist is like how does it feel, I said well it still hurts not as bad but it's still there, and he looked confused he was like well it should be better by now,so he asked is anything else acting up, I was like well know, he was like are you sure, what about your hip, ankle, everything internally is good, and I was like well know, I have a irriated and bloated disgestive tract, and he was like hmmm really, so we spoke about that, and he said well let me have a look, so he pressed around in my tummy, I wanted to kick him cause it was painfully, and he was like oh wow, you poor thing, your sigmoid is very bloated and spasmed, also so was the ascending so he worked on it, and he was like continue with what the naturopath told you and maybe we can fix this or help it manually, I was like fine with me, fix me already, he also said it's possible that your sigmoid is actually throughing your knee off, since this is on the left side and it's the left knee also, isn't that just crazy. He said well he'll see, how it goes, and hopefully that's the cause then once the intensines are fix everything else will work fine.

So this morning I went to the bathroom with no struggle, woohoo :elephant: it's been awhile since I was able to have a good bowel movement without straining or feeling like hell, so I'm quite excited, lol now let's hope this continues, I know I know too much info, but I'm happy about this!!!

The lesson for today ladies, be very careful with these diets you do, I know which 1 f*cked me up and you can guarantee I will NOT do it again, if you are healthy and not competing I would not totally remove my fruits or veggies, not that I didn't eat veggies, just not enough to make up for the insane about of nuts and meat I was eating at that time.

This is a problem I've been dealing with for months, but it just got to the point that I couldn't take it any longer and I had to finally listen to my poor body. So what I'm saying is that you can take others advice on diet, but please learn how to listen to your body, not only listen but please respond to it. I wish I responded alot sooner, and I don't wish this issue I'm having on nobody it's really not funny at all.

Miss24K, that was an absolutely great post. I can guarantee that it is going to help a LOT of people, and I'm glad to see that you are doing this intelligently and not JUST thinking about the competition. That makes me very proud of you.

...now when I think about it, I think I have the opposite problem. I go like 3xday...maybe 4...is that a bad thing? I know that too much of anything is bad. I was too scared/embarassed to post about this...but you broke the ice. lol

Well it's not all better, lol but hopefully it will be soon. It's actually a big issue.

And well no 3 or 4 times a day is not a bad time, as long as it's not diarrhea, think about it for a second, if you eat 6 times a day, your body has something to get rid of 6 times a day, not saying you should go to the bathroom 6 times a day, it all depends on how fast you digest your food, what you're eating, how long it sits around, things like that. 3 or 4 times is a good thing again as long as it's not diarrhea.

Oh and Nemj, thank you very much. :) Your words mean alot. But I fully intend on doing this show, just not going to compromise my health to do it, so if I have to make some adjustments here and there then so be it. I only have like 5 pounds to lose and that's nothing if this problem is fixed.
 
I hope your colon gets well soon! :heart: You poor thing. I know that is the absolute worse feeling in the world. I would rather be shot than be severely constipated. Did any doctor tell you what specifically caused this or what you could have done to prevent it?
Just trying to take precautions for myself.....

I have IBS so I have to watch what I eat. Certain foods cause certain responses. Chinese food: screamin demons. Cheese or nuts: ultrabind

I ate about a half jar of peanut butter the other day without realizing it. (I just wasn't paying attn) I've taken 4 packets of metamucil in the last 35 hours and not a darn thing is moving. I'm hoping that having gone to the gym and working my abs and back tonite will help "move" things along.

If it doesn't, then I'm off th Wt Cstle for some sliders......those only take about an hour. ;)

Thanks ladies for your support and I'm glad my hell was enlightening for some, it's such a flipping up and down thing, I want to pull my hair out some times like today I was good, but tonight, my goodness my tummy is cramped up, I'm going to have some tea and myself to my bed.

Bad, ha well I know exactly what did it to me it was the diet, I've never had an problems before 1 particular diet, and although I am following another diet it did it's damage. The diet I did that was high in protein like over 200g of protein mainly from animal sources, I was eating some red meat everyday, lots of nuts, oh damn and some cheese was in there too, and veggies at 2 meals only. And that's it.
 
Hey guys.... true dat on listening to your body!!... I should know since mine SCREAMMMMS at me and I never listen!!!! =((( But que 66.... and Miss 24... I honestly DID NOT NOT NOT KNOW that nuts could cause constipation, because, (if you read my pathetic journal** blush**) you'll see I'm ALWAYS backed up! It gets to be so painful! I swear this happened.... One night, me and some friends were out partying in ATL, and it was late. We went by this gas station, and were on our way back to the car. I was wearing a cropped shirt I remember WISHING I haden't "cause as the night progressed my stomach began to hurt, and cramp... but of course, that was it. Nothing would "happen" in the ladies room! And these guys started flirting with us, we talked, then one guy asked me, " are you pregnant?" I COULD HAVE DIED!! How embarassing! =(It stays like that alot! And the rest of me is in pretty good shape so it doesn't look like fat. Anyhow....long story, embarassing! =) But goood thing to know about nuts! LOL!
 
Well it's not that nuts are constipating, it depends what you are eating them with, and what the rest of your diet lots like, and what kind of nuts. I know some girls get blocked up with peanut butter, yet they can eat almond butter like there's no tomorrow.
 
Hmmm...? In that case, let's see? I usuallt eat them with some sort of tofu, because I've been super vegetarian for almost my whole life. But two hours later i usually have a protein shake. Other than that lots of salad, roughage. Every once in a while low fat cottage cheese. Diet soda... I dunno?
 
For me, it's nuts and cheese. We all can have different triggers. Nuts and cheese don't affect my daughters the same way they affect me.

I couldn't bring myself to go eat junk so I'm waiting on the Mtamucil to kick in..... :worried:

Maybe I should add some prune juice to my daily diet. Couple of tablespoons should do it I think. ;)
 
YEAH! =) lol... well, the crapola fairy did visit briefly this morning. I upped my EFA"s last night, and downed a liter of water this a.m. But isn't it a shame what we ladies have to do NOW to get the same results we did, as before it seems we NEVER payed attention?
 
While we're on this subject, I think a periodic cleanse is good especially if one is eating clean for a stretch with no cheats etc. I use these Super Colon Cleanse tabs now (I got mine at Trader Joes although I'm sure they're available in any health food store) every or every other Sunday where I know I'll be home and close to my own bathroom. I feel like this gets rid of everything in my system that needs to come out without the problem becoming bigger over time. It seems to work especially since the scale usually shows a drop of 1-2lbs right after.
 
I'm a hyuge proponent of a detox diet after a competiton diet for exactly the reasons Miss24 mentions - the high protein diet, no fruits (removes the enzymes that normally shuttle out waste) and I would call some serious bullshit on any diet that removes vegetables. Concentrated diets are waaay to harsh to not have some sort of processing support in them. Even if the veggies are lower, you can supplement w/ things like spirulina or the Greens pills. Fats are absolutely brutal for me, but just like everything else - in moderation they have their purpose. That's why I've launched a few jars of PB out the back door. Its a 20 second ordeal or a 2 day ordeal. You can also include a decent fiber mix at the end of the day (but be careful w/ using it too long, or too much -- the Senna or whatever it is can be harsh on your system).
 
Just a empathy post for Missy --- I just ate a pile of broccoli w/ my meal 2 and forgot the DIGESTIVE ENZYMES (another one of those little gifts from God...). NICE BIG STOMACH ACHE. So I'm sitting here waitign for it to settle down and my tubby 16 lb cat decides he wants to sit in my lap. He doesn't ask permission - he just jumps in.

UGH.

Notes to self:
1) Remember the digestive enzymes!
2) More cardio & carb cycling for tubby cat.

Scorpio I was feeling better up until yesterday afternoon, and I started feeling bad again, my body is starting to release, but while it's doing that it's making me feel like someone ran me over with a friggin truck, I ache from my head to my toes, got an insane headache, and my goodness my tummy hasn't stopping moving around since yesterday which is quite uncomfortable because it causes insane cramps, I swear I think I know what giving birth will feel like.

But I guess it's a good thing in a way, cause it means my body is trying to get rid of the crap, I know that's what it means anyway. Thanks for asking SG :)

Sorry ladies, I decided to take new pics so these are from tonight. I went to see my naturopath yesterday so I have alittle extra water in my tummy area, cause of the colonic. Tre, I'm cleaning up stuff now, I'm working with a naturopath, no I can't do a cleaning diet right now, but I have added many friggin things.

I went to see the trainer the another day, my weight only dropped a pound and a half since last time I saw him, but bf dropped 3.5%, pluse my LBM went up 3.5lbs.

Thanks for the check up Nels, and Buns :) I've been so busy lately you would think, I'm not working, so I would have more time, lol but it's just the opposite.

I'm doing good, actually went to see the naturopath again this week, which I do every Wednesday up until the show, I had another colonic, even though my bowels are finally working on a regular basis, gawd you have no time how great that feels, lol. I can't get over the amount of junk that still is coming out of me, my poor belly is so going to thank me.

She actually wants to schedule a colonic the day before the show, which I'm not so sure it's a good idea, because it will throw my water intake off, well this is what I think I could be wrong, someone can chime in anytime with some knowledge, or experience with this....hmmmm Sassy... where are you??? lol

I feel better but the training and dieting is giving me low energy which is normal since I'm 5 weeks out, but I can't take a fatburner right now to get that energy, so she recommended some natural supplements to help give me some energy hope they work, :)

I'll post up pics again on Friday, I have a surprise for you ladies, and my few fellas :bigkiss:

So I decided to try and be more detailed with this log, let's hope I can stay on top of it, lol.

8:30- 35 minutes cardio on eliptical

10:00- Meal 1- 1 grapefruit, with 1/2 tsp of Stevia
25g of protein powder, 1/2 tbsp coconut oil

12:00 -Naturopath

1:45- Meal 2- 1C of cauliflower, 1/3C kamut flakes, 1C egg whites, 1/2 tbsp coconut oil

2:30 Gym- walked for 30 minutes posing
Triple sets no rest in between exercises, only 45 sec. break at the end of the 3rd exercise.
A1) 4 sets 14 of bench press (20lbs DBs)
A2) 4 sets of 16 leg curls (45lbs)
A3) 4 sets of 14 Zottsman bicep curls (10lbs)

B1) 4 sets 14 of shoulder press (15lbs)
B2) 4 sets of 16 Romanian deadlifts with DBs (15lbs)
B3) 4 sets of 14 standing bicep curls (25lbs)

C1) 3 sets of 14 reverse crunches
C2) 3 sets of leg curls on a ball
C3) 3 sets of 30 oblique twists on ball

20 minutes of HITT cardio on elliptical ( 30 sec slow, 30 as fast as I could)

4:30- Meal 3-25g protein powder, 20g glutamine, 2g taurine, 1C celery, 1 C cauilflower

7:00- Meal 4-3oz ground turkey, 1 small onion, 4oz sweet potato, 12 baby carrots, 6 oz cucumber

9:30- Meal 5-3/4C egg whites, 1/2tsp stevia, alittle bit of portein powder that I spinkled on my egg pancakes, 1/2 tbsp coconut oil, romanian lettuce, 3oz cucumber, 4 baby carrots, 2 rice cakes

Is there any particular reason a colonic before the show? I guess normally I'd just stay clear of all of that at least a couple of days before.

Yes this is what I'm thinking also Sassy, she said it would clear out anything than may be in there that might make me look bloated, because my sigmoid is spasmed. I told her that, it doesn't make sense to put water in, when I'm dehydrating, because she thinks it should be done on the friday and well friday would be the day I don't take in any water, or very small amounts.

I'm not really sure --- anythig you are eating at that point should be well-established as not irritating to you... I guess I'd ask around to other people w/ more competitoin experience....

Hi ladies, and Nels, sorry that you were worrying about me, I'm alive just very tired, for some reason my computer was giving me problems and I couldn't get on the internet let alone EF, then I had to go out of town, and now I'm back, geez I feel like I went through withdrawals without my EF and you wonderful ladies, almost as bad as when I had to give up the PB :lmao:

What made you decide on a new do & how drastic of a change was it for you?

(I've been contemplating a new do but I've had it all 1 length to my midback for the last 3 yrs. Went bold once and had 6 inches cut off. ;) )

No Que it's not drastic, it has more layers and I now have it highlighted with honey and light blond. I like it.

Thanks ladies, the photoshoot was alot of fun, and the photographer was very happy with me, he didn't need to give me too much instructions, I'm a natural baby :lmao: We did like 15 different styles and outfits, and he took like 50 shots each outfit, I was done in less than 2 hours which was great, because I'm paid by the shoot I thought I could have been there all day, but nope.


Also saw my trainer yesterday, he's happy with my progress, and is glad my body is back on track however I won't be looking my best at my 1st show this season, so we decided that I'll do this show, but use it as a practice and my main focus will be on the Toronto show, which is 6 weeks after this 1, so I have a total of 8 weeks to get it together, which will be more than enough time, I'm alittle disappointed cause this was the show I had my heart set on all year, but hey there's some things that are out of your control at times and you can only do so much, yes they could have been prevented but at the same time how is anyone to know how you would react to something you've never tried, oh well definiately a bumpy road this year, but definiately a learning experience and not to mention how sweet victory will taste at the end of it. :)

very nice! And you are getting some NICE definition! Calves I think are so hawt on chix and they are usually such a let down on the "cover girl / fitness model / whoever" people. Love the highlights! BLONDS HAVE MORE FUN!

LOVE the hair, tan, calves, BOOTY, abs, from what I can see... Wow you are stunning ... I don't care if you already 'know' it ... you should hear it... you've been through a lot ...
