I play on my base team and play pick up games all the time....right now I'm @ 250 lbs. I can still throw down though :). I just post up or shoot outside. I can't slash and drive like I used to. When I played in HS I was 185lbs...much quicker. :fro:

buck, to me that is a huge problem... if you are mobile and have a quick first step, or at least HAD one, then you really gotta change your game a bit... of course, i only drove when i had to, i prefer bombing.

yeap, had to change my game. I was a slashing type player. I just worked on shooting outside more, and posting up.

250 now - played at 195...just a teeny bit slower, but still have near 40-inch vertical and 98% of quickness.

How tall are you Matt? With a 40" vertical you have a better vertical jump than quite a few of these Pro's....... don't know how accurate the numbers are but I could dunk when I was 6'2" 180 lbs in HS and as of a couple months ago I could still dunk pretty much anyway I wanted except 360 weighing 230lbs. Did you play ball in college?

The first figure is their standing reach, the second figure is the highest point that they can reach from a standing two legged jump, and the third is their vertical jump measurement.

Kobe Bryant 8'10", 12'0", 38 in.
Shaq 9'8", 12'4", 32 in.
Vince Carter 8'11", 12'6", 43 in.
Malone 9'2", 11'6", 28 in.
Steve Francis 8'5", 11'9", 40 in.
Antonio McDyess 9'2", 12'3", 37 in.
Lamar Odom 9'1", 11'9", 32 in.

Older Jumps

Michael Jordan 8'10", 12'5", 43 in.
Dominique Wilkins 9'0", 12'6", 42 in.
Nance 9'4", 12'8", 40 in.
Dr. J 8'11", 12'4", 41 in.
Ralph Sampson 9'11", 12'11", 36 in.
Spud Webb 7'4", 11'2", 46 in.
Stansbury 8'8", 12'2", 42 in.
Woolridge 9'1", 12'3", 38 in.
Kemp 9'3", 12'7", 40 in.
Magic Johnson 9'1", 11'7", 30 in.

I'm about 6-2. I played in college in the Atlantic 10. I've always had the ability to jump well - I can do a lot of the things that the shorter guys on your list can do.

Pro ball didn't happen for me....and I didn't want to go overseas after college - unlike so many players I graduated and had other goals if ball didn't pan out - which as you can see it ultimately did not.

I always thought I was going to play at least college ball up until my senior yr..... then I figured out that a 6'2" power forward that can jump and dunk but only with a running start , but couldn't shoot outside of 18 ft and wasn't a real good ball handler wasn't going anywhere........Luckily baseball took over.:D
