Out of all you broken mother f*ckers in here, who has adult adhd

If you get stims, you'll have great focus but beware of mood issues. They will most likely make you way more irritable than normal.

I am pretty sure that I have adhd but never been diagnosed. I always thought you had to be hyperactive as well and I am definitely not hyper.
I cannot read three sentences in a book without my mind switching to something else at least twice. I really wish I could get a prescription for Adderall . I should try.

I don't have ADHD but I have some experience with the meds in a person over 16 and honestly, everyone in my life has either ADHD or ADD: My son, first husband, current husband, last two bosses and stepchildren.

Anyway, with younger people the first go to is stimulants, amphetamine salts, which have a paradoxical effect in kids. With adults they try all sorts of other shit, including antidepressants, and usually use the amphetamines as a last line of defense (mainly because of insomnia and BP issues, but plenty of adults are looking for the amphetamines for increased energy and appetite suppression). As you've discovered, when it comes to any type of psychoactive medication everyone can respond differently. My son is a good example, he was variously put on Ritalin, Ritalin XR, Dexedrine and Adderall for his ADHD. Short acting Ritalin gave him the best focus, but utterly wiped out his appetite and he felt like he had no emotions. When it came to long acting Ritalin though, he literally took more than double his normal dose in mg and it had zero effect on him. Dexedrine gave him good focus, less anorexia and didn't impact his emotions. He tried Adderall and that lasted about a week, he started having blind rages, boy scared the shit out of me.

You need a psychiatrist who will listen to your input and take your observations into consideration. If you find one who accuses you of drug seeking, get a new doctor because he'll keep accusing you at every session. Your sessions will probably be short and you need someone who believes that you want clarity of mind, not to get high.

^^This is really good advice. I don't have a lot of experience with adults and medication for ADHD but definitely do with children and sometimes it takes 2-3 different meds to find one that fits, with a dose that fits. I'm pretty sure I have ADD and it runs in my family...but no "H" part. It's worse as I get older!

I/m the exact same way with reading a book. I re-read pages two and three times.

But Id say steer clear of any meds for it unless it is really impacting your life personally, professionally, etc

Stims like amphetamines are nothing to mess with. The side effects are undesirable.

It's pretty easy to get a growers license in CA. I've seen or heard of a few occasions were people get the license, start growing in their yard, get robbed, and have to start fresh with an indoor set-up and increased security.

I've even seen it in track homes neighborhoods. My co-workers neighbor has a license, and the rest of the neighborhood see's him as a drug dealer. When he was growing in his yard, they got super-soakers full of herbicide, and killed his crops from the neighbors backyard.
