Zinc reduces 5-alpha reductase, so it lowers DHT?

I have no body hair or hairline worries. I could use some more DHT. I'm currently on

600mg test cyp/wk
Adex 0.5-1mg/EOD
Proviron 50mg/d

I see many recommendations to add a lot of zinc supplementation on AAS cycle. Won't this lower DHT (which I don't want to do)?

Zinc is a multifaceted mineral and the fact of the matter most people are majorly deficient in it. Like many minerals, athletes use more zinc than a couch potatoe so they need more.

The problem is when deficient, simply taking a recommended or even high recommended dose simply isnt enough to build up stores in the tissues. Unless you are taking significantly more than you are using someone who is deficient will never get their zinc levels to where they should be for optimal performance. The only way to be sure is tast test, then super load (ie 4x dose) for a period of time and retest.

The above being said I would be that anyone adding a good dose of zinc to their diet while cycling is still likely deficient and in turn likely no subject to the lowering of DHT. The benefits of having proper levels of minerals far outweighs the disadvantages.

I've been taking 30mg chelated zinc glycinate and 5mg chelated copper glycinate for a year now. Also, I eat a lot of beef and lamb daily and get 30mg of zinc from that alone. So I doubt I'm deficient.

That said, am I lowering DHT?

Your assuming 100% absorption which will not happen with supplementation at all. If you were deficient most of your life and have been supplementing and eating zinc rich foods for only a year you COULD potentially still be deficient.

Google for the zinc taste test and give it a whirl.

That said if your not deficient you MAY be lowering you DHT to a small degree BUT as I said, zinc is such an important mineral that the benefits FAR outweight a slight hit to DHT.

If in doubt dont play guessing games on the internet, get your DHT levels tested.
