I try not to ask the "how many" question when I'm dating someone. I just don't want to know about it, really, and there is no way to know if they're telling the truth anyway.

I totally agree that it matters. Espically if we are talking about girls going into the 30+ range. I mean honestly that is alot of sexual partners in my opinion. I am not sure numbers matter as much as the situation behind the numbers. A girl who has done things like wave to a random guy in a car while driving down the road, and end up having sex with him without ever knowing his name is likely to do impulsive junk like that again. A girl that cheated multiple times on a previous boyfriend is probably more likely to do that with you.
Due to my current situation I get to be around ALOT of pregnant girls including seeing their vaginas in all sorts of situations. Although it is not 100% true, I think more often than not the better looking the girl the more likely she is to put out. The more she puts out the more loose and stretched out she is. I would not have believed this before, thinking that a vagina is stretchy and will resume its previous shape - although having a baby loosens it up a bit - but now I have to say its not true - if the girl is getting alot of action, even if she has not had a baby yet, she will stretch way out. You can often park a semi truck in the 19 year old girls with very extensive sexual histories.
Almost invariably, if the girl is a real looker her medical history will show 5 or 6 TAB's (therapuetic abortions) plus many instances of chlamydia, syphillus etc. I don't know if it is because more guys hit on the better looking girls or if the better looking girls spend alot of effort looking good so that guys will hit on them..... but I think the best odds of getting laid (for the young guys) is with the good looking girls. I don't like to reveal too much about myself, but you can say I shadow OB/GYN's alot. I am just finishing 380 clinical hours with some OB's.
Loosest snatch I ever saw - a 22 year old having her 6 child. The OB put the thumb and index finger of both hands in her vagina. Then spread his fingers 3-4 inches wide and then spread his hands about 5 inches apart - so there was a gaping opening maybe 3X5" or 4X6 inches - and he was not stretching her so tight that the skin was blanching. I believe the obstetrician/gynecologists I shadow are "reputable". One has been board certified since the early 1970's. The others residency program was in a hospital (El Paso) which has the highest number of births nationwide. As chief resident he was in charge of an unbelievable number of births. I also know many other OB/GYN's as a result of my educational experience and he is by far the busiest - he is on track to do over 500 births this year. he has an unbelievable amount of experience. As he puts it "the uterus and vagina are like a balloon. The first time you blow it up, its tight and hard to stretch. Each time you blow it up it gets looser and looser and never gets back to its original shape.".
Its true genetics has a role. As does muscular fitness. A mulitpara woman (a woman having had multiple births) who does keggles and the like can regain a good bit of muscular tone. Sometimes muscles can't be completely toned again, such as when a woman suffers a 4th degree tear and rips her vagina into the rectum. After the repair surgery there is so much scar you just can't tone it again, as a good bit of the vagina and anus are essentially dead and scarred.

Actually there is. Her vagina is preset to a genetic form. Haha, I'm not going to compare number of vaginas looked at, you wouldn't win and it's stupid. Have you been to med school? Have you looked at cadavars? Listen I'm not trying to offend your probably a nice guy but this myth has gone on long enough, through childbirth yes, sex no. The reasons younger girls 'feel' tighter is because their muscles are tighter, everywhere. As we age the muscles slowly become more flacid unless exercised and toned. A woman of 35 who exercises and does kegels may be alot tighter(irregardless of she slept with 1000) than a lady of 25 who had 4 kids and slept with only 10.
