It is psychologically impossible to lose your native accent at that age; in fact, this turning point in one's development occurs well before reaching the age of 10. Why do you think some Asians, largely considered the most intellectual race on earth, still speak with a heavy accent and some don't? Likewise, Asians born and raised in America who spoke english as their first language would have a funny American accent to overseas Asians if they tried to speak Chinese Japanese, etc, as a second language.
