Re: Bodyfat seems to be increasing

I've been on the old school routine for about 4 weeks now, and I'm really pleased with the weight\strength gains.

However, I seem to have gained a noticable amount of extra bodyfat too (overall definition isn't as sharp, and the skin seems generally thicker all over).

I'd like to maintain my new size\weight but regain my old definition. Should I continue with the old school routine but start doing cardio and\or decrease my calorie intake, or switch to a different routine ?

Before: 5'10 185 8-10% b.f.
Now: 5'10 194 10-12% b.f.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

SOunds like Sub-Q water retention.....

COntinue with tprogram provided you don't have sore joints etc and add 1-2 sessions of MODERATE cardio per week.

Keep calories the same for now.

A good quote that I heard once in regard to soreness and effectiveness is:

"It's not a question of 'How Much Can You Do?', but rather
'What is Optimal?'"

Sure you can be sore as hell and train each bodypart for 40 sets per workout, but is that going to make you grow? Nope... Cornholio's statement about the Baseball Bat was good too! :)

3 Questions

Been reading all these threads with a great deal of interest. Been looking for a change and just started out on it yesterday. Got 3 questions:

1) Are smith machine squats OK?
2) Would this be a suitable program for someone juicing? If not, how would it change? There's very little discussion on the anabolic board about how things affect training
3) I saw mention of a suitable program to follow this in order to encourage hypertrophy - but can't find it. Was it ever posted? If so where?

Thanks so much. I've learnt a great deal here.

3 - yes I will bump for you.

Yay

Been on this for three weeks, and I've gained around 5-6lbs..
I haven't been eating and more than usual, I think...Great results, either way.

Someone else is trying it now.

Add cardio on the two off days and let's see....
