I love how it makes a difference that the animal's cute. How many of you who said you could never kill a puppy have no problem eating meat? Someone has the kill the pig/cow/chicken.

But they're ugly so it's ok.

I know this is a dumb (kinda sick) question that would never happen but it's still interesting because either you are willing to cross the line of committing a wrong for personal gain or not (this is assuming that killing a puppy is wrong). Since I would eat a chicken for dinner no problem, or kill a baby rat easily for a million dollars I would probably end up justifying killing the puppy for some amount of money. I'm capable of killing a puppy for monetary gain.

I don't know if a million dollars is enough (it might be, I would probably do it for less) but there probably is an amount of money where I would accept the offer. I know I couldn't curb stomp an innocent animal or end it's life in a violent and bloody manner but if I could kill it in a more psychologically distant manner (gun, poison etc) I could go through with it.

hahah nydj I'm glad you posted that. I thought I was going to have my ass handed to me for admitting that.

I would never kill the family pet for any amount of money. That would be too psychologically scarring for any amount of money, on both Abby and me. To have my child view me as someone that killed someone/thing she loved for money, or at the very least a hypocrite wouldn't be worth it. Money isn't everything.

At the very least, I might consider it if she were to never find out. I would still know I did it though. That's a better set up for the thread, honestly. Lol

ABSOLUTELY NOT. No way, no how, and not for any amount of money. And it's not because I don't need the money. I have been poor in the past, and my feeling on this is, and always has been as solid as a sphere of pure titanium.

With that said, I believe that the killing of any animal is morally OK for only two specific reasons: (1) To protect life & limb of a person, or to protect another animal (pet, livestock), and (2) ; the humane slaughter of culturally acceptable game animals for the purpose of food to sustain oneself and family.
