Is there a scientific (if any) explanation why mentally ill people like people with bi polar disorder are so strong when they get pissed off. I mean like freaky strong. And some of them aren't that big. I have a friend who is bi polar and he doesn't weigh over 200 lbs. at 6'1, but I've seen him pissed and it's scary. I lift hella more than him, but when he has a manic episode I gurantee you he could squash me.

I asked this question a while ago on the anabolic forum, but I'll ask it here now. Also, are there any web sites that goes into detail as to why and how these type of people get this strength?

I think anybody with adrenaline rushing throw their veisn is going to be uberstrong [just look at 90 pound women lifting cars]

Perhaps their inhibitory system just isn't working upto par so it happens more often.

I'm just hazarding a guess here.

Correct. One of the functions of the golgi tendon organ is inhibition, which causes us to stop at the point where injury is more likely. This, and many other factors, including adrenaline, are responsible for the incredible strength these people can display.

How come no one ever mentions that they usually turn their spine into a pretzel of such complexity it would give M. C. Escher a headace?

I didn't mentoin it because that wasn't the question.

I'm aware that there are serious negative consequences to extreme adrenaline rushes. The body's protective mechanisms are there for a reason.

Good point. Just a personal pet peeve of mine. I get hit with it a lot when I am lecturing, and I will shortly go postal.
