working out while sick????

hey i was just wondering, iv been sick with some virus for the past few days, and it has really pissed me off that i can't work out, i just have to sit at home and watch tv. i dont have the flu or anything serious, i was just wondering if other people just work out through the sickness, and if it benefits them or makes them even sicker...thanks alot
 
If your symptoms are above your neck (ie - stuffy nose) then a light workout may help.

If your symptoms are below the neck (ie - chest congestion, body aches) then just kick back and relax, as working out may lower your immune system even more.

Exactly.

Basically if i get a cold i wait two days after the symptoms are the worst then i get back in there. Sweat off the rest.

Dont forget to have some respect for the other BB that work out at your gym you dont want to get them sick too.
 
I dont usually train when im sick. a couple of days off from training every once in a while is good for you, so when i get sick its my excuse to take a break.
 
If i'm sick in anyway I just go and sit in the sauna and sweat it out. There's a guy I work with, he is the most unhealthy person I know, he's only 25, he smokes, he eats shit ALL day (he's been blessed with a fast metabolism so he is still skinny) he doesn't do any exercise...etc, anyway, when he is sick or gets a cold he has it for about 2 weeks, If I get one it's gone within 3 days.
 
I read a report on a study that was done with people who were sick. Half continued to workout and the other half rested. They concluded that working out while sick didnt prolong the sickness at all. But who feels like doin anythiong when theyre sick.
