I'm taking my dog to the vet at 1:00, I know he has something serious wrong going on. He's almost 9 yrs old and has been the best dog I could ever imagine. Just his being around helped me through my divorce and a number of other rough times. His personality is just unreal and I know I'll never be able to find another dog that'll be able to come close to him.

He's always been so lively and happy up until a couple of weeks ago. He's got arthritis so I thought he was just slowing down because of the cold. I got him glucosamine and it didn't really do much. This weekend, he started walking like his left rear leg wasn't working well. Sunday I noticed his whole leg was swollen and felt warm. The vet couldn't get us in until today and I'm just really afraid I'm going to get the worst news possible. Fucking kid, I love him so much. I just want him to be ok.

My s.o. just called and he can't walk. He tried to go downstairs when she was away from him and he fell halfway down them. He's out on the front lawn now on a blanket and he's hardly breathing. I'm going to go be with him.

Fuck, I'm so sad. I keep welling up.

Fuck bro, I hope all works out well.

I got 2 dogs and dont know what I would do if I found myself in a similar situation.

My beautiful dog of 13 years did that sometime back. When they stop walking, they start littering everywhere and are pretty damn scared of what's happening. It may not seem like it but the most gracious thing is to let him rest down and the most painless way is through the vets. Get them to come to your house so he can be buried at home in the garden.

I'm sorry Jnevin (it's weird typin a serious message to a ID). I hope you get by alright. Time is the world's best weapon. It heals everything.

Thanks man. I know I'm going to have to put him down. I somehow knew it Sunday when he hardly acknowledged me walking in the door. He's loved me unconditionally for almost 9 years. There's no way I could make him suffer just so I can have him with me.
